Justin Davies has been one of the disappointments of the season. In his 4th season he hasn't delivered despite been given the coveted number 7 He has heaps of talent and mongrel, but just doesnt seem to string enough quality games.Has great vision the boy from Shepp, but perhaps still longs to be playing country ball. At 22 it is time to deliver.Sure DP should of not dropped him in some games .Then in some meaningless ants game he apparently throws someone into a fence and gets 2. He is a better option than TLo that's for sure.I thought this kid really had it. Now he isn't a kid and needs to step up before he becomes trade bait. |

I reckon they don't persevere enough with him. The second he plays a bad game he's dropped. Far more talent than Wiggins and Sporn, and I just think there's been a few games where he hasn't dominated for the whole game, but given us a real spark for a quarter or two. |

I always hoped davies would improve - but he has always had a number of problems with his game which may prevent him from being an afl player - the first is his disposal - it is absolutely shocking - it is a very messy action and has no penetration. Added to this is his decision making, which it to is terrible - he is just not a natural footballer - if u watch him in the twos, he will regularly take four bounces and then get stuck and either get tackled or kick a scrubber under pressure - he has zero poise! Thirdly his pace is a real problem as well - for his type of player we would want someone with genuine pace which he lacks. He has improved his second efforts tho - he used to be like houla - one attempt at the ball and then he was away from the pack - he is starting to realise he has to go at the ball again and again and it is not good enough to go for the flashy pick up and thats it. Now some could say that we must persist with davies as he will come good like simpson - but i would distinguish him from simpson - simpson has super pace and great skills and poise, all of which he showed in the twos regularly - davies has none of these and has not shown such in the twos. Therefore, IMO we try to trade or we delist him at the end of the year - harsh call but he has had 4 years which a lot of people dont get. As a general rule i would be happy to give more time for people with pace, poise and skill, but unless u show afl attributes in the vfl, 4 years is enough. |

Perhaps they can give number 7 to Bentick or Carrazzo next year. |

I reckon Davies should get another season to show his wares. Certainly needs to round off his game. A couple of months ago people were calling for Simmos head in here. Its hard for the kids when there is noone helping them along. I like some of what Davies does and not a fan of his laconic disposal. |

I'd give Davies another go, he is still only 22 and has shown he can play a bit. If we were a strong side we could afford to get rid of talented players who underperform but we should have enough on the chopping block already that have no hope of coming good. |

Norman/Davies are both equally tricky decisions IMO. I'd give both another year. |

Has only played in cameo bursts ...mainly v Collingwood...attacks the footy well and can kick the odd freaky goal but hard to argue a case for him to be retained... |

I'd argue that those cameos have shown that he has ability. Where are Sporn's cameos, where are Wiggins' cameos? I can't recall either of them playing a very good game at all. |

He is capable of the freaky (left goals from boundary), love him to nail the 35 metre goals from straight in front more consistently. If we cut him now it will mean another one of our first round draft picks being found wanting. I'm not saying that this is reason enough to keep him, but I reckon there is certain (the french have a saying) somthing I dont know what ![]() ![]() |

Wiggo and Sporn are the first rounders who are in trouble. |
