Looking back, how on earth did Carlton win the Wizard Cup?

top 3 reasons would be preferable..

and also, one for Jarusa, Dannyboy or Molsey or whoever - which player has won the most pre-season premierships?

Is it Dermott Brereton... he was a member of 5 teams wasn't he?

and another one for the stats. buffs.

Nick Stevens is a member of 3 pre-season flag teams - is that right? and if so, is that more than any other current player?

1)fast play-on at all cost play - momentum got going and we looked good and put in
2) better prepared (earlier pre-season) than most teams (+no-injuries)
3) negative tactics not employed by oppositions (eg. tag, double team, etc. ) as they were trying to see whta their guys were capable of

Summed up by Laidley after round 1. They had a good look at us and worked out how to shut down our options...something that DIDN't happen very intensley in the WC.

Good news is that the first two things are still there. The third means that we need guys who can take that on and still beat there man

1) increased inetchange bench - allowed us to play the swamp game, all running, rest got on and off the bench. We have not played all year anywhere near that same intensity.

2) Prepared. We were, they weren't and they didn't really care, either before a game or during.

3) Confidence. - By the thiurd game it was sky high but a coupel of losses and it crashed just as quickly. Pagan would say this is a by-product of the young list and a reason why we must be patient.

The other stuff is not for me. i make thjings up as I go along (just ask Molsey) factual truth rarely gets a mention - I'm more of an emotional truth kind of guy 8)

Curiously, have just finished re-watching the semis v the Bulldogs as at home with flu today.

Another reason I can add is that we hunted in packs...always support for the ball carrier and also backing each other up in defence.

We were on fire and the other teams wern't desperate enough. It shows what we can achieve when we are confident.I was at the first Tigers match where the first half was an embarrasment And I new that we were finished for the season.

Some of the players are mentally weak and there is no leadership on the field which is a mayor issue that needs to be addressed. So our worst is the worst.

You can talk tatcics as much as you like ,but the fact is that we have to make big changes to the list.Everything went for us in that series, but masked the same old probs we have had for the last 3 years.

if you watch the games again..it wasn't when we had the ball that won us games, it was when we didn't have the ball..we were fantastic in the clinches, winning the hardball, running hard in numbers and tackling... skills were mediocre except fev who was on fire..

Other teams were not fair dinkum because they were only practice matches. North showed that in rd 1 when they got extra numbers behind the ball.

Yeah i want carlton to win 2. But i think we won the Wizard Cup because we played attacking footy. We didnt flood we just ran and all worked hard.
