Post subject: | Collingwood Go After Coach Carey |
On SEN this morning, apparently Collingwood have approached Wayne Carey to go full time as an assistant coach. Many of us are now Carey converts after watching his informed opinions on FOXFOOTY & reckon you could put the case that you can see his influence on Fisher and Waite, especially how they approach their contested marks. Personally I think letting Wayne Carey walk out of Optus Oval would be the worst coaching mistake since letting John Worsfold do the same thing, especially with the rumours some of our other assistant coaches will be gone at the end of the year. Hopefully Wayne wants to stay with Denis and/or keep his commentary job. Don't think we could match the money Eddie would be throwing at him. |

Look what happened to their last forward coach that got their forward line firing, ended up sacked after 1 year. No-one of significance will want to work with Mick the Ego |

It is clear that Wayne enjoys the media work. The Pies job would be full time. I think there is a good chance Wayne stays. |

Carey has a pretty lucrative job with Fox Footy, I can't see him walking away from that in the short term. |

Carey is a very astute student of the game and it will be a huge loss to lose the little time he spends with our young players. They just lap up everything he does and says. |

Dont underestimate the relationship between dennis and the Duck. I reckon that half the reason Duck is there is to be close to the great man again!!! Duck is not struggling for a bit of coin and I reckon that the thought of rolling his sleeves up and getting back into the fight with Dennis to lift our club again is probably what got him there in the first place. Carey loves the media work and I reckon he wont want to change what he already does now. |

was a massive critic of carey when he was first coming ot the club. but im glad to admit i was wrong. he is superb on fox footy - really comes across as knowing a heap about the game. i should add any player as good as carey understand the game, but only a few can get present the information in a format that is easy for them to communicate to other people. Brereton is the opposite of Carey - a champion player but just doesnt communicate well enough where as Carey does. would be a massive loss for the club if we lose him to the filth. but i would think - if he was to go fulltime with anyone it would be with us under Pagan. |

Carey will hopefully stay. Too many media commitments and full time would not suit. Expect to see Wayne offered an official role at Carlton, part time next year - difference is with pay, as part of a football dept overhaul. Just my opinion. |

On SEN this morning Andrew Maher said Carey has signed with Collingwood as an assistant coach. I'm sure Collingwood would try to make him the highest paid assistant coach in the history of the AFL, they probably offered more than some senior coaches. Maher also said Robert Shaw from Essendon* had been signed as football manager. |

Maher also said Robert Shaw from Essendon* had been signed as football manager. THAT is, pound for pound, the worst news regaridng the Blues I've heard this year - if true. I am officially over this year |

This season has been so disheartning. I can't wait for it to finally finish. I try and look for the positives, but......... Has the Karma Train run over us [and then backed over us again] for all those years we were powerful and ruthless? Now other clubs are kicking us while were down. I console myself with the belief that we will rise again, it'll take time and more pain, but we'll get there. It's a shame your gonna miss the ride Mr. Carey, I think it could have been mutually beneficial. But you chose the Filth. Therefore you chose mediocrity, a club that has made an art of coming second. Thanks for your time. Regards Pedro. |

Carey strikes me as a guy who loves a challenge and it's hard to compete with Collingwood when it comes to that. |

[quote="bluehammer"]Hey that means Neil Balme is available. SIGN HIM UP COLLO![/quote Why? To frighten the pigeons from the roof of the Social Club? This is the mongrel who almost ended Geoff Southby's career. Thankfully he failed at that, and he failed at Collingwood. Karma. |
