Apparently the ALP are offering our former premiership captain and current AFL Commissioner Mike Fitzpatrick a safe lower house seat at the next federal election. Do people think he could be Prime Minister material? Definitely better political leader prospect than football's other politician in waiting, one E. Maguire. |

Fitzy for PM. His first act as PM should be to declare Collingwood a banned terrorist organisation. |

Too talented to be PM. He won't go well with mudslinging/abuse etc but intellectually is miles in front. |

Fitzy would be the politician from central casting; intelligent, articulate and with contacts on both sides of politics. |

If he accepts (it will be a great boost for the ALP to have someone with such great economic credentials. If he accepts, could see him as a Treasurer or Finance minister material but not PM. I doubt he would make the move as it is a thankless task. More likely to be the next AFL President It's about time the ALP targets some real talent rather than political machievelians with limited credentials. |

Politicians don't derive an income from their party they actually draw their parliamentary salary from the taxpayers. However most are affiliated to a particular political party. For the record, Fitzpatrick does have ALP connections. |

Maybe Mike's a too bigger fish for that small pond, did pass over that job for a position on the AFL Commission. Could also have time restraints considering he has to manage his supperanuation investment fund over the next three years while the ownership is transferred to Westpac. How many million does he have riding on the successful transferance of that business - think it's about 40 million in personal wealth Synbad. Would do well in parliament when that deals done, a self made man with plenty of money, someone needs to eyeball Malcolm Turnball from across parliament. |

Synbad wasn't Fitzy the only one with any balls to confront Elliott when he was being investigated by ASIC? |

Synbad bag the club? I thought he bagged certain players, but from what I've read he is pro-kid, pro-draft picks, pro-future, pro-Pagan, pro-Collo. Hardly bagging the Club. |
