Eddie,AD and Collo scoff tank talk Eddie and AD scoff tank talk Collo ![]() Apparently no clubs are tanking according to Demetriou and supporters ![]() It seems Demetriou doesn't have his finger on the community's pulse considering his statement the Swans also play unattractive footy but are somehow top four material ![]() ![]() In some good news in case we are bad next year, he said this regarding PPs Quote: "We shouldn't assume that there will be a change either, we didn't say that the review was with a view to implement a change, it is a review to confirm it is the right policy," he said. "I don't think you should change a policy based on people's perceived views of speculation. I think you deal with the policy — and we will deal with it at the end of the year — based on all of the facts … Can some translate this into simple English? ![]() And according to Eddie and Colllo the two sides aren't tanking! Which one do you believe! Quote: "We are selecting anyone who is standing at Collingwood at the moment, there is no one at Collingwood who can play who is not playing. Do you reckon I want to put my club in the position to win the wooden spoon? Please, give us a break," McGuire said.
Collins said clubs outsmarted themselves when they tried to think too far ahead about draft picks and not about winning games. "When you make a selection you have got to make sure you get the right one anyhow and it's not an exact science drafting players and that has been proved in the past with us and any other club," he said. Love that part in bold! Still not quoting TC! ![]() |

And they got GoBaggers and Soulfly quotes from TBV.....probably two of the least likely spokespeople for Carlton fans I could think of... hold on, I'm sure there's a third... |

Note this one from the fat bastard from the article: Quote: "The fact of the matter is it is still quite possible that there might not be priority picks this year, who knows?"
This can be read as: "If Carlton achives the PP - we might even take it away this year". |

Yes good old Collo is actually contradicting his own arguments here. If it's not an exact science and clubs get it wrong then getting a PP gives you double the chance to get it right. |

whoops! Sorry I must have missed the memo! When did Carlton supporters start believing anything the Jabba says?? (I think his reference to maybe no priority picks this year relates to the last three teams could win one game and lose them, not that the commission is going to take them off the table). |

This is my favourite bit: "No, no, I am consistent on this..." I love the fact that he felt a need to point this out... ![]() |

I have to applaud Demetriou on his comments in this article, particularly stressing that an AFL rule will not be changed on the basis of perception. What he means is that the AFL Commission will look at the point in contention and make their own judgement on club's approach to winning matches before adjusting the priority pick rules. That's the way it should be. Any damage done to the game which is supporter's being turned away from the game, not in my opinion debate about the preference to winning or losing at season's end, needs to be balanced with the desire for the draft to produce an even playing field. As a result the priority pick will not be dramatically changed, I'd be surprised if it is placed at the second round of the draft because the talent available won't fulfil the objective of the priority pick, the likely change, if any, will be that it will be given to teams on an aggregate of games won over two years, so becoming more genuine in it's offering to teams that spend a sustained period at the bottom of the ladder. |

Blue Bird wrote: Synbad wrote: This year and one more and then they can do what they like with the PP... ...are you threatening us with another year of this Synbad? ![]() ![]() ![]() bb, in my opinion this thing about winning x amount of games is stupid. See the pick should go to the club with the crappiest list. Thats us!!!.. we need it more than anyone else and just because we might go past a couple of other teams at trash time doesnt mean we dont deserve or need that pick more than they do. This bullshit about tanking the last couple of games blah blah blah.. and do clubs do it or not???... well thats just silly. Hawthorns list is much better than ours... and their in line for another 2 top few picks this year. All i can say is the kids that will come in from the draft this year will have zero impact on what happens to us next year. In all likelihood with Lance gone and Campo Lappin and Kouta finishing up over the next couple of years and slowing right down we will be down there again next year. I cant understand how people think were just going to pop up out like a jack in a box and win a premiership anytime soon. Rome wasnt built in a day and Carlton wont be rebuilt in one draft . Just enjoy the kids developing over the next three or so years and when there is enough talent in the club. (REAL TALENT).. we will be kicking goals.... real goaals!!! We will be down there again next year.. and hopefully with what is considered as the best draft of all time .. we will be able to pick up 2 genuine superstars of the future to catapult us forward for the next decade with the emerging talent we already have.(and about to snag) |

molsey, sometimes my belief in my club is tested. But i believe that the club will (whatever happens) bring the best possible talent to the fold.. im just hoping we get first choices to do it with... But even if we dont come last (writing this for the AFL spy in case he has found us).. we will snag some kind of talent anyway...(with pick 5 even)...and PSD pick #3.. and rookie pick #3.... ........... ....... .. .... . .. . |
