I made a passing reference in another post about the fact that my wife is almost converted from a Bomber to a Blue but feel that the momentous occasion warranted a thread all by itself. During the Pies game Mrs NTBlue was barracking like mad for the Blues and commented that she should switch allegiances because she shares my anguish when the Blues lose and my joy when we win.

I hope to complete the total conversion by presenting her with a Blues Interstate Membership as part of her wedding anniversary present on May 22nd. Mrs NTBlue has already commented that I must love the Blues more because I will be leaving her in Darwin for our anniversary whilst I journey to Melbourne for the last Optus Oval game on 21st May. I have quietly mused that it might be prudent me being that far away when she gets the Blues membership!!!

We will have to celebrate both events (her conversion and the anniversary) when I get back so I am seeking suggestions of how to celebrate a conversion from a Bomber to a Blue. I am considering a formal ceremony where we burn a model plastic WW2 bomber aircraft whilst I present her with scanty Navy Blue lingerie – to be worn during a lap of honour around the back yard (er… by her, not me!). My working title for the event is the "Blue Pagan Conversion Ritual"

I would welcome any other suggestions .

Congratulations mate - it took me 15 years to convert Mrs. Agro from Richmond to the Blues - I have Black Friday and 2 brainwashed children 8) - and her being very lonely on the weekend when we went to the football, to thank for that.

Well done. :D

Congratulations...

I managed to convert my Bomber following partner during the early 90s

The main reason (I think) was that the only way of seeing me during the footy season was to come to a Blues game. Oh, and SOS's arse in tight navy blue shorts helped a bit

Surely no conversion from Bomber to Blue would be complete without a cerimonial viewing of the '99 preliminary final

I tried to convert an ex from Collingwood to Carlton. I brought her to the first game last year whe we came back and knocked them off, she didn't share my joy. I don't think filth supporters can be changed.

Yeah I went out with a filth supporter once to mate. There is no way they will ever change (believe me I tried) LOL! THey are as stubborn as a mule!

Have been seeing an Essendon* chick for 4 months and I reckon I'm nearly home and hosed as far as converting her over to carlton. Shes been coming with me to the footy the last few weeks and cheering on the blues while wearing my carlton scarf. I'd say shes 90% converted!

It was very hard considering Scotty West is her 2nd cousin...

I have to confess to being a dismal failure.... so far.

All of my well laid plans fell through.

This weekend will be a real test. Possibly the best result for the NTB household this week would be a draw. Good result for our PP and keeps the NTBlues out of the divorce court. Can you cite barracking for the Bombers as infidelity?

That's a fair effort.

Mrs S would die before she gove up on the red, white and blue....

I converted my wife from a Dockers fan...

Come to think of it, all I had to do was ask 'Would you like to change teams?' and she changed over.

Apparently.

Pretty sure you don't even have to ask most of the time.

It took me about 5 years to convert my Hawthorn-following missus to Carlton. The official change over coming a year or two ago but the seeds were sown when Lappin took the mark of the year and in the process became her favourite player, thanks Skinny! :-D
