Two rounds to go and I want to win both of them. I always want to win. Having the first two picks in the draft might be useful for trade week, but history has shown that you are not always ensured a winner and jesus, at Carlton our first picks usually turn out to be duds, while people taken at 175 end up playing 300 games... Ok a slight exageration, but you get the point.

This is Carlton folks.

We are talking about the wooden spoon.

I was gutted when we were awarded (I can't bring myself to say won) a wooden spoon a few years ago and that will stay in the history books.

When my kids grow up I want them to be proud of the fact that their club has not only won the most premierships, but also has the fewest wooden spoons. I was raised in the luxury of being able to, even in a real crap season, take solace in the fact that we had never been awarded one.

When Collingwood won the premiership in 1990, when all the Collingwood supporters were gloating, I could say, well at least we have never been given a wooden spoon.

I'm an arrogant Carlton supporter and I want to stay that way. Tanking games is the equivallent of cheating, it reminds me of the way we would buy premierships. Do whatever we have to just to get wins on the board in the future.

Well, I would prefer to lose the PP and draft pick number 1 than lose to Essendon* and North.

I don't want the shame that goes with a wooden spoon.

In a few years time history will not recall who came in second last, but it will recall who came last and I don't want to be given any reason to recall this period in our club.

So come on Blueboys, kick some ass this week and the next and get us of the bottom of the ladder FF sake.

I'm confused blueslander. You say you're proud of our history, and you don't want to tank because that'd be as bad as the way we used to buy premierships.

So does that mean you're NOT proud of the way we won our premierships?

Or if you ARE proud that we worked the system, then why wouldn't you want us to do just that again (in this new era where draft picks = chequebook recruiting)

If you want bragging rights for most flags, then stocking up on young talent is a great way to get us there (unless you're one of the people who believe that what's going on at St Kilda and Footscray is some sort of illusion)

I spoke to Bret Thornton today...he's up-beat about things...said he'd be dirty if the Blues midfield doesn't let the ball flow into the Carlton defence again and again. Said he'd be furious if he gets any easy marks and has time to find space. I asked if he is nuts...within seconds I found myself flat on my back with a sore jaw.

I got up and wandered over to Eddie Betts, who told me he was expecting to kick five straight this weeks.......five minors that is. Has been told he'll be docked $10,000 for every goal he kicks, and given he'll only be on $80,000 this year he'd prefer just to miss the big sticks. Smart boy.

Fisher wandered up at this stage and said his knee was hurting. Asked him if it was something to do with the reconstruction and he just shook his head and walked away.

Bentick looked a million dollars, so I stolled over and asked him how many touches he will get against the Bombers.

"Fifty mate!"

"Fifty? Bugger me! If you do that we'll thrash the bastards!"

"Nah mate...forty five of 'em will be straight to the opposition and three will be out on the full!"

"How do you know that...on a Friday afternoon?"

Adam stood...motionless... completely stunned.

Then he walked away.

"HEY! Carrots!!" I yelled.

For some reason Carrazzo refused to talk to me. Son of a....!!!!
