Essendon* without Fletcher, Solomon, Mcphee, Laycock & Rioli.

Pagan doesn't want a wooden spoon on his CV....

Yep, we can almost kiss the PP, Pick #1 in the National Draft and Pick #1 in the Pre-Season Draft goodbye.

Oh, but don't worry because we have a "winning culture" as we have beaten Richmond without Brown, Richo & Gaspar and Collingwood with half their team out. If we are lucky we will peak and make the bottom half of the final eight in a few years time.

Humpers,

You can add to that : we won 3 of the last 4 games last year which was supposed to give us momentum into 2005, we won the pre season cup in 2005 when 80% of the teams were no trying. When the real stuff come along we played teams that were fair dinkum and we were not up to it.

Jbee, I think that is a bit unfair.... teams "not trying".

Essendon* put rookies in - yes. I agree. They had no intention of contesting the Wizard Cup... but Melbourne wanted to win, so too the Bulldogs and of course the Eagles wanted to win.

Carlton won the 2005 wizard cup and it goes on the CV. There is nothing you or I can do about that fact.

When the Wizard Cup winner receives $250k I would be pretty sure who ever makes the final 4 is going to have a decent crack. Especially the Bulldogs and Demons.

Humpers, I recon you're right - Denis is going to blow it.

This week I've been trying to come up with some creative reasons for suspending my AFL Membership for a couple of years. I recon that they won't accept "Lost all hope" as a medical reason. If we don't get the PP this year, it is game over for me for a while. I hate this system that's resulted in me being depressed after a win. It is so stuffed. Yet I know that we need some extra talent and the only way to get it is....

At the start of the year it was "have faith in Denis..." . Well that's almost been blown out of the water now. Another win, after what I been watching this year (not just the last few weeks), and that's it for me. Time for a new interest. Soccer could be a big winner here - the timing's right.

To make all of this more twisted, here I sit thinking about this weekend and the hope that I DO HAVE is that we'll lose. It is so stuffed...

Carlton's PP is screwed.

I do not believe you have been "tanking" up until now, you simply have been not good enough to win. But now we at the crunch, you'll have to tank to lose this week and Denis wont do it.

What's worse Sheedy is the most Machiavellian character in AFL. I have no doubt he would deliberately lose to screw Carlton. He will remember that Carlton and Denis combined to "steal" the 99 flag and what better opportunity for revenge.

Carlton to win this week, put your house on it.

Cant knock AB.. but you wouldnt find one club that would take him ahead of Luke Ball, Chris Judd, Luke Hodge , Adam Cooney on an open market.

win this game and youll be bitching about being a loser club for the next few years.
Win it and whilst it might not make a difference to our fortunes next year it will make a marked difference to the club in the next few...

Pick 1, 4 and 19(lose the game)

or pick 5 and 20???(beat a bunch of clubs with half a side in)

First pick in the PSD or 3rd lick in the PSD?

Just in case someone was missed who trains the house down in the pre season...

1st rookie pick or thirs rookie pick???

Logi asks.. whats more likely to help the club INTO the future.?

One f'in player is all you people care about. This is a team sport and as they say a Champion team will always defeat a team of champions.

Be prepared for Darknavy to come in expecting something else in this thread, based on what he said in another one....

Come on, Syn, you know that's not what he's saying. One player is NOT going to be the messiah, either.

Well one player can make the difference to any club.

Take Sticks out of our team of the century and replace him with Ian Aitken

I've resigned myself to the fact we're gonna win 5.5 for a while now

Look if we do win that many.. the club.. the supporters and everyone associated with the club deserves it... and finishing in that kind of position for the next few years.

Rebuilding this club should never be about ego.. it should be done with pain.

I will leave the last 2 weeks results to history expecting it to be any different to the results of the past 6 years. That is that teams in the situation of the Blues, Hawks and Pies have not won any further games for the season. I dont expect any of the above teams to win another match as well as what we are facing this year is the same senario teams have faced in the past 6 years.

Also i have know doubt that Collo / DP / All the guys in the MC and Board are fully aware of the senario in place for the Blues presently and if they have been talking to Murphy ... players who are out of contract .. Trying to get plaers through the PSD there best postion to have a crack at all of the above options is to finish last so you get first choices.

So what happens will happen but we have the last 6 years of Hostory plus all of the Media talking of the benfits ... i hope the message gets through.

I'm sure the message has got through and been duly ignored. Expect a big fat meaningless win against the Bummers on Sunday. If we tanked "Vlad the Impaler" would have found a way to exclude us from the draft anyway. He would have Ken Wood working on it right now!!
