Worrying scenes today regarding Fevola...

It seems that too much has gotten to his head.. Pity is when you carry on acting like someone with such a small brain it brings the team down also..

I was one for trading him mid-season...I thought he was carrying too much on his shoulders and after todays performance it appears he can't handle the required level of responsibility which is needed..

There are too many creases which need ironing out with The Fev... And when you have Denis saying that they don't agree together on the same football principles, then it makes you raise an eyebrow...

Denis certainly has his hands full it appears...

I wouldn't worry about Fev so much.

We just need to take the heat off him and get better supply to him, and he'll be right.

I would like to see him tried in other positions... not for whole games, necessarily, but next year if we trade Whitnall, they should look to ease the pressure on Fev from time to time in matches and get him up on the wing (high leading CHF), or dropping back loose in defence... that'll make him a more rounded player anyway, and get him away from shouldering the burdon. We have enough tallish talent up forward to take the pressure off him for half a quarter here and there.

Fev will come good. I think he needs to be part of a more functional system that doesn't always point the barrell at him.

yeah... I think it could happen too....

The thing we forget about fev is he's our strongest and most angry player, and we get little value to the team out of these traits when he's in the goalsquare.... he should get up the ground knocking blokes over and crunching them in tackles more often...

i would get Fevvie more up the ground next year, in the Barry Hall role... but also dropping lose in defence, or getting into stoppages from time to time.... with Waite or Fish leading from the square in that part of the rotation... or even Lappin if he's here next year.

I'm not so sure.

I think Pagan is disappointed in Fevola's mindset. He seems to lack the resilience Pagan seeks. You could call him a downhill skiier because he doesn't like it when times are tough. Pagan doesn't like it when he drops his head and doesn't chase and tackle. It's a test of his character, and right now I think he's failing in Denis' eyes.

What worries me is that he has been carrying an injury for some weeks and as we weren't going to play finals why did we continue to play him? Wouldn't it have been better to either book him in for surgery or put him on the LTI list and elevate Jesse Smith or Carlos?

Exactly. I've been thinking about this since the Brisbane game at TD. I guess there were other things happening at the time, like a particular contract negotiation.

Still, the last 5 weeks, Fev should not have been playing. It would have been beneficial to elevate Setanta or Jesse for some valuable AFL experience. :roll:

I think it has been too late to elevate anyone since about R18?

But I certainly agree that Fev should have been rested or in for any op that needed to be done so he could have maximum time to recover before pre-season training. (How sad that that is my next "look forward to" point) :roll:

Shouldnt have played the last 6 weeks and only battling to get to the line by sheer guts should have been resting and if he had been playing with the Carringbush would have been put on ice weeks ago

Don't be too harsh on Fev, i'll go out on a limb and state that when Fev finishes playing AFL - One Club Man, the Pros of his career will out weigh the Cons.

Fev might be mid 20's but in mind he is younger. He will continue to mature and silence all the knockers.

I really belive this.... Or am i kidding myself :shock: ?

Blah Blah Blah. Many many footballers carry injuries into games but have the will power to conquer the pain and succeed. Fevola cannot do it. He is weak in the mind - he is not a leader and for some one who has been in the game for 6 years now is a worry. The 400 big gorillas he will earn over the next 3 years has me concerned. Perhaps we should pay him bananas while he acts like a chimp.

No, Rod. The MC had weeks to figure out that Fev clearly is restricted with his kicking action and movement, and should have forcably dropped him so he may be properly rehabilitated by the medico for his injury.

Wonder how youd go with a pretty big groin injury....

Fev cant even kick 40 meters.

Exactly, eg J.Brown has been struggling for a while and couldn't even kick the other night, and Brad Ottens has been carrying one for a while and finally tore it last week.....

Give him a break, Fev did well at full back today considering the supply...
