Pretty hard to do this after a spoon year, but here goes.

 The continued improvement of Jarrod Waite

 The return of the Fish. Give him an injury free pre-season, look out 2006! Gotta love the fish.

 The debut seasons of Eddie Betts and Chris Bryan. Both exceeded expectation in my opinion.

 The emergence of Kade Simpson. Looks like he believes he can make it now.

 The continued improvement of Carrazzo. The Carrot has looked more comfortable this year. His disposal, which by my own admission was woeful early on has improved out of sight.

 The late season form of Adam Bentick. Hopefully he can take a step up next year.

 The form of Lance Whitnall. The much-maligned big guy has but his head down and arse up in the back half. Hopefully he has bumped up his value a bit.

 The Northern Bullants. Our young guys learning about winning, even if it is at VFL level. They'll convert this form into AFL form one day.

 Two top ten draft picks. Small consolation for a spoon season in my eyes, but all bodes well for the future. Stay home, Marc Murphy!

If you are looking at the real positives for the season, they are the success stories. Two young guys who really hit their straps when finally given the chance and in doing so have given us all some genuine hope & excitement for the future.

Deano, I agreed with every comment but this one
Surely a team full of guys too good for the VFL and not good enough for the AFL is a bad thing!

That's why we are where we are!

Think of the guys we should cull.
All listed in the best for the NB's every week!

yeah i recken the emergence of young talent such as bryan, betts, simpson and bentick the great form of fisher and waite. the fact that the club finally get our overdue pp picks get some young gun players down at optus to bring the club forward. kouta showing he still has it. winning the wizard cup u dont say no to a premiership of any kind. think that 06 will have many more positives and success for the mighty blues!!!

I think another positive that is more of a long term one is that now we know how the system works we can hopefully never be in a situation like we are again. Hopefully ewe can try and follow the crows form and never have to really rebuild, but just spend a year or two out of flag contention.

I relaize that it is impossible to constantly good but ywe shouldnt have to spend 3-5 years at the bottom trying to rebuild, that surely cant be the only way and hoepfully we learn from our mistakes.

***--- The #1 positive for '05 is the fact that our wins came off the back of people under the age of 25---***

I would have thought a huge positive was the development of the O'hAilpin boys. Carlos to play AFL next year and Aisake to move up to VFL seniors and continue to learn the game.

The fact that AW, Waite, Fisher,Simpson Carrazzo etc...have 20-40 games under their belts and are just about to hit their peak. Looks good for the future.

Brendan Fevola had a shite year according to everyone and kicked 49 goals, yet Nathan Thompson had a stellar year and kicked 50 in a side that has midfielders who can hit a leading forward on the chest.

Hear Hear Deano.... good selection

Except...I don't care whether Mark Murphy is Pick #1 or not...we are the masters of our own destiny once more. That to me is the big positive.

I guess you will claim credit for them Sheik????...particularly when they were on your cracked/sacked listed earlier in the year????

"I did have to laugh when re-reading that thread how Bentick went from a "cracked" to a retain when he had'nt played a game for a month...Seems you were influenced by what you had read of his Bullants form...You are good at that???

The best interchange on the thread however was back in April....As a response to your early call for the near total demolition of the list.....

DJ again....

"Well that depends on how much credibiity you want to have."

Given your suddden about turn on Bentick and Simpson(add in Carrazzo ?) i look forward to your equally well informed diagnosis of our list...

Just a pity that you have, in your multitude of opiniated posts on our list, have based your observations on heresay and the sites..

Your recruitment suggestions will be eagerly awaited, particular your explanation of how the sacking of half our list will be replaced, particularly given that you only advocate the first 3 rounds.."no dregs from other Clubs"

I have noted your expectations that we will trade a number of players. That seems at odds with you observation of the worth of them?.i.e what is their currency and what do you get get for a 3rd/4th round swap...

Let me guess,Longmuirs, teaugues,Chambers of the world. The same ones you have been critical of the Club recruiting(Other Clubs dregs_inyour words)...The only trouble is that you operate with hindsight!

Heres a challenge for you Sheik.....give me the numbers that you are sacking or trading.....and balance them out with inflow???

Others may disagree but I think one positive was Andrew Walker's year. Didn't set the world on fire I know and he was never going to be a Judd, but this year has been a big learning curve for him. Because of his age you could really even consider that this was his first real year of senior football in comparison with other kids his age.

When you consider the run-with roles he has been given this year I reckon he will spend his summer thinking about what makes those blokes standout as superstars and he will be there working his butt of to get there.

Will be a big year for him.
I am also looking forward to a fresh looking lineup next year, especially with that big Lanky Irishman running around.

Okay then smart-alec, I'll play your game.

From the original threadstarter :

CRACKED
Kade Simpson - has been there long enough, fire up or open to the highest bidder.

BACKED
Adam Bentick

So what's the problem with that ??? This was backed up later in the thread with :

Look, from where I sit, those are the players who will come under scrutiny and they have another 19 games to show why they should stay. My guess is that a fair few of them will be gone come season's end. The reason I say that is that we just don't have a premeirship winning list and to get one, we have to make changes and the only way to do that is make hard decisions. Mon Apr 11, 2005 9:16 pm

Opinions on players change constantly throughout a season subject to their form & the teams onfield fortunes. If we were to go back through some of the many threads on this forum I'm sure you'd find more of the the same.

That particular thread has run for a great deal of the season and it generated some interesting discussion from a wide variety of members on CSC. I'm still waiting to read any thread that you not only started, but where you have had the courage of your own convictions to have an opinion or make a prediction.

But hey, you just sit in the comfort zone and never ever stick your neck out by actually voicing your opinion, that way no-one will ever be able to criticise your comments.

Oh, while I'm at it 7Dom, here's another piece :

CRACKED
Kade Simpson - has shown glimpses but is under the pump to get regular senior selection.
Adam Bentick - has shown some chinks in his armoury recently, I'm a little concerned.

Fancy that, I made a fair assessment after 11 rounds of footy !! And guess waht, other people thought the comments about all the players were quite fair at the time.

Always better to read the whole thread and put it all into context, makes a lot more sense when you do. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story ??
