On our rookie list.Dont know how many games he has played for the bullant seniors, but we need to develop a ruckman for the future.French is getting on in years,Have my doubts about Deluca and Bryan is only a second stringer.Need another ruckman in the draft for the future.

Anybody know how he has gone this season and is there in hope for the future with Batson.

He has been solid in the reserves but unspectacular. Having said that he is very well liked around the club by the staff and players. He is a fairly introverted kid of 18 years who comes from a small town 5 hours west of Melbourne toward Bordertown. His attituded and track work is said to be very good.

Going from training once a week and playing with Ballarat U18's to moving to Melbourne training 5 days a week and playing against bigger bodies has been a big learning curve.

The lad has some very good foot skills, is fairly mobile and a solid tap ruckman. He is certainly well worth sticking with at this early stage. There are few, if any, better real ruck prospects in the draft. With French, Deluca, Aisake and Bryant I can't see the point in bringing in another young prospect infront of Batson.

Even a tall, early pick from 2004, in Meeson are playing in the SA Reserves. Maric is in the Port Adelaide seniors and Wood is playing in the QLD comp. All are learning the ropes.

Regards Cazzesman

I hope you're right and we don't go into the draft looking for a ruckman. IMO Ruckman can be late developers hence plucking another 18 year old for this position would be some what a wasted pick. Then again if the club doesn't rate our young tall timber then into the draft we go.

I liken Batson to David Hille of Essendon*. I see him being a similar type player and like David Hille will need plenty of time (4 years of development).

I think Daniel actually went home to help with harvest or cropping at one stage. Gotta love those country boys.

Maric is flying, apparently. From memory, we were quite keen on him.

Makes sense to keep him on our rookie list then it seems
