Does it really make a difference, given that at least it's in Victoria?

Think you'll find that majority of clubs would love the first "home" game, as they are good money spinners. I know I am quite anti-AFL, but why have they put us up against Kangaroos and now Melbourne.
Because we are good result for these "struggling" team first up and the financial gain will probably not be there later on in the year.

Bigfooty would suggest we play Collingwood at home at the MCG Round 7 (Sun 7th May), away Round 21 (Sat 26th Aug(N)) and Brisbane at the GABBA round 13 straight after the bye.

Not sure how true they are

Carlton, as expected because of its wooden-spoon finish this year, has taken a hit in prime-time free-to-air coverage, but Blues chief executive Michael Malouf said the club was reasonably satisfied with the interim fixture, given the constraints imposed by the MCG works.
