We had Black Friday, now we have Tantilising Tuesday.

Another critical board meeting RE the future of the Blues. What i would like to know is if the outcome is not what the voting members and supporters want, will the ramafications involve a revolt against Collo and the Board?

IMO if the board give in to excessive contracts for Lappin, Whitnall and Camporeale then changes need to be made.

Agree with Mjonc...I'm baffled about the plan for the future and we seem to have some factional problem within the club that is holding us back....some want to trade certain players some want to retain them, are we united at all levels?..doesnt look that way and we wont be any good on the field until we fix the off field stuff first....

Others would say the club is letting supporters down if they didn't sign Campo, Lappin and Whitnall. IMHO, it's not all one way traffic.

Look, there re plenty of people who are upset with trading :Lance and not giving Lappin a 3 year contract and Campo another 3 year contract x 400k.....
What we have to remember is were all pretty hard core in here....and unfortunately probably too well educated because alot of different minds, soiurces and ideas get thrown around....

Like Tommi said in his post.... ignorance is bliss sometimes!!!

But i dont want to sit on my hands and watch more of the same with no plan forward in motion because some people dont want to rock the boat too much....

There is no time to waste!!!.. we need to get fair dinkum...and plan for the next FIVE years....!!

I dopnt care whos nose we get out of joint as long as there is a plan that isnt relying on the next Chambers being the next Judd.. and bad leadership is better than no leadership...

Thats just a losers mentality.
We need to bite the bullet and give future a red hot go!!!

No half measures.. no band aid solutions where you kind of make a stance at contracts by pissing off Lappin but you keep a guy like Campo who has no nibbles.. on over 200k .even if it is for a year....and Lance is judged opn the performance of the last 10 weeks meaningless ganmes sweeping across half back instead of the last 4 years doing sweet FA....!

People want to not be remembered with a losing legacy.. so they are unwilling on building platforms for someone else to come along and get the credit.
They prefer to not be perceived as losers but as average.....

If we got rid of these blokes..and used picks and youth...
The current people wont be thge ones around for it.. they would only have been around for losses...

Thats where were at!!

self preservation

What people Synbad? Are you talking about the coach? You've been an absolute acolyte of his all year. These 'people' can surely only be the coach or the president. Most Carlton supporters would be hard put to name 3 committee members. So do you think DP is making short term decisions so he doesn't finish his career with 3 spoons?

I am in the 'unsure' category with Pagan, but recently have felt more confident there is method in his madness.

Or are you saying that the club committee is making match committee and coaching decisions? Who are these mysterious "people"

Changes need to be made regardless. That we can sign a player who has been with the club for 6 years - and has not changed greatly in his mindset over that time - to a 3 year contract, then in the space of 6 weeks agree that they made a mistake and try to offload him - is farcical. It smacks of a board that has no direction, no core philosophy of how to rebuild the club, no formal recruitment / retention plan.

It's time for a clean out of the board now, before we are talking 2015 for our next flag.

I have been an unabashed fan of Denis Pagan.. and if we go up this road he would have to be another that is more interested in protecting his record than making sure this club has a window of opportunity to win a premiership after he is gone...

By people i mean EVERYONE who has any kind of influence to grit their teeth cop the big whack to the head that is coming.... but hold on to the ball instead of dropping it.... the next generation will reap the rewards of sacrifices made right now.. we all know that!!!!./.... Collo and this board wont be presiding over the next premiership and neither will Denis the chairman of selectors and the assistant coaches.. and neither will Kouta Campo Lappin and Lance....

But that does not mean that they should sell the club short of its future to protect the perception of how this club went in its very DARKEST time....under them....

We need to make changes and understand there is a couple more years of hardship but blue skiues are around the corner..

Rather than patching up for overcast days for the next ten years......just so you dont get any MORE hailstorms in the near future.

*snip*

The whole situation frustrates the hell out of me.
The club appears to be intent on appeasing sponsors etc with a steady as she goes approach.

The difficulty is making changes for improvement instead of trying to "look like they're doing something".
I personally would retain Camporeale.
If he cannot be traded for anything substantial, I'd offer him 200-250k on a one year deal.
He has more than his share of faults but he also offers run and skill.
He is a sheepdog but team structures are made up of all types of players.
Brisbane and Port had front runners in their premiership sides.
We need users and Campo is a rarity for us.

Lappo is an interesting case. I'd love to see him retained but at what cost?
Their are plenty on this site who say we should keep him but the club should be responsible in their offers.
I'd offer Lappin a 2 year deal with an optional 3rd year if he finishes top 6 in the B&F.
The frustrating aspect is Lappo wont accept it.
Ron Joseph has told him to hang out for 3 years and it's becoming difficult for him to back down and save face.

Fevola, I'd keep.
He has won us more matches in the past 3 years than anyone.

Lance. If we can get a top 10 pick, see ya.
Lance signs deals, gets fat and bludges.
He pulled his finger out this year and played half a season of good footy.
His first half of the season was poor and he only hit form when a stint in the backline forced him into some form of fitness.
This one player wants one fifteenth of the TPP.
Does he deserve it based on his last 3 years?
Not a chance.
Trade him whilst he has currency.

We have hit rock bottom. If we are going to rebuild, do it properly.
The club has the chance to be courageous and daring.
Dont let the opportunity slip.

Many people on this forum and TBV voted Collins and his board in. Is he delivering on the promise of transparency? Are you happy with how the club has progressed under his administration?

Collo and the Board have Tuesday night to prove to the voters that he is going to do the job that he was elected to do.

From where i stand all the press on Carlton is currently negative. This is the chance for the board to come out Wednesday in the media and show that transparency of the direction the club is taking like Hawthorn have, the board need to release some positive vibes to the supporter base or we can start kissing goodbye the membership figures we have steadily built up over the past few years.

The next one of Surrey or Synbad (or both) to make a post containing a cheap shot at the other gets a warning.

Despite Synbad inferring that I was calling the board idiots a few weeks ago, I wasn't just very annoyed at the way the team was playing.

I am very happy with the way the board is managing at the moment. The club is in an unbeievably difficult situation at the moment and whatever decisions they make tomorrow will certainly annoy at fair portion of the membership. I will accept any decision that the board makes re players and finances, wheter or not I agree with it as I believe that they will be acting in the best interests of the club as they see it.

The difference between what we as indivivuals believe should be done and what they will do is that they will have all relevant information available to them

Look people complain that the Hawks get good publicity and we get shithouse publicity....

I dont think its Collins fault entirely.. i think because we have a legacy of greatness.. its hard for people (INCLUDING SUPPORTERS) to get their heads around how shit we are and what we REALLY have to do ...

There are a heap of other influences around the club.. in coaching chairman of selectors and board members coterie guys.. (Who dont want to be giving money to a team getting thumped)

Its bloody hard !!!

But fortune favours the bold not the weak/safe....

Right if you two cant act like adults around each other and resist the temptation to bait and bitch and pick and fight you'll both get put on the naughty mat.

I'll get camel to restrict you both to a forum that only you two can post in and read.

I dont care if you think each other fools, or disagree with each others opinion or have 2 years of posts contradicting the current views of each other. I've had enough, its petty and banal and repetitive.

Now, this is your last chance to behave like grown ups. If you cant manage that then you'll have to come up with other ways to amuse yourselves.

capiche?

Synbad, I dont often agree with you but I reckon you are right on the money with this one!!! We've already plumbed the lows, no point mortgaging the future to get to 10th place again.

Nobody likes seeing St Kilda and Sth Melbourne duking it out for September glory whilst Carlton sits alone with the spoon. Glory and reward are not our decreed entitlement, those things have to be earned. If we truly are great then now is the time to show it and you dont get there by making soft decisions.

I love a quote so here are a few to illustrate what I mean:

Quote:
I found every single successful person I've ever spoken to had a turning point. Their turning point was where they made a clear, specific, unequivocal decision that they were not going to live like this anymore. They were going to succeed. Some people make that decision at 15. Some people make it at 50. Most people never make it at all.--Brian Tracy (The Treasury of Quotes)

Quote:
My basic principle is that you don't make decisions because they are easy; you don't make them because they are cheap; you don't make them because they're popular; you make them because they're right.--Theodore Hesburgh

Quote:
When a decision has to be made, make it. There is no totally right time for anything.--General George Patton

Quote:
Again and again, the impossible problem is solved when we see that the problem is only a tough decision waiting to be made.--Robert Schuller

Quote:
Anthony Robbins: Quotes about Decision Making
It's in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped

Quote:
Cushing: Quotes on Decision Making
Always plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

Benjamin Franklin: Quotes on Decision Making
By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.
