that bring a smile to your face and give you hope.

I was getting some chicken last night for dinner. While I was waiting there was a child aged about 5 wearing a Carlton jumper, running around the shop pretending he was various Carlton players and giving a running commentary on his game. He was having an absoloute ball.

Just for a few minutes all was right with the universe. The last I saw of him was him taking an imaginary screamer as he was walkinto his Moms car.

That kid will swap his jumper for another if we continue to be boring and safe ... caught up in our past instead of embracing our future....

We need to make sure that kid has the same opportunity to bragging rights as we had....

Great story Mark! Today I was wlaking through Collins Place and that cheap c.d's guy had the footage of the 1987 (?) pre-season London (Oval?) game between Carlton and North on.

Poor old Ian Aitken copped one of the cheapest shots ever seen on a footy field ever (now Hawks coach Alistair Clarkson) before Clarkson decided to 'hit and run'....until Johnno caught up with him and started belting the bejesus out of him...Rhys threw a few great haymakers - I miss those days a lot.

Unfortunately Ian Aitken was never the same again after being rookie of the year and went where all good hacks go - St.Kilda.

Bought back some memories though...we need more of those kids taking speccies in the supermarket imagining their Carlton heroes.
