Good to see the club being transparent. I would be expecting some form of media conference today to set straight all the negative publicity we have been receving towards our uncontracted and contracted players? Or is that too much to ask? |

Too much to ask. Seriously, what do you expect? Collo to come out and say "@#$%&! Lance, @#$%&! Fev, its our way or @#$%&! off"??? They would have made a decision, but I'd be very surprised if it would be publically announced. |

Since when do the club (or any club for that matter) routinely hold press conferences to communicate the minutes of board meetings? Some decisions may well have been made regarding all sorts of matters, as they are on most ordinary days at football clubs, but the board hardly have a mandate to make all this public, immediately or otherwise. Those expecting Big Announcements will surely be disappointed. |

We are talking about contracts that are freely discussed through the media already, so please explain to me what harm it will cause for the board to declare the outcome today? It would be stupid for the board to come out say we are proud to announce we have signed such and such for x years and x dollars wouldn't it? Whitnall has declared he wants a response by Friday, Lappin has "supposedly" been told to wait till after the trade period and Campo no one wants. It is all media driven and could quite easily be put to rest if an announcement was made. |

Exactly! As for trading policy etc...Why on earth would you flag your intentions in advance? I would expect our Club to keep all options open! |

The clubs not publically announcing anything, the players are. Sure there are some media leaks, but thats part and parcel of club/player negotiations. No different from any other club. Just 'cause Lance wasn't an answer by Friday doesn't mean Lance will get an answer by Friday. I'm consistantly surprised by the lack of political understanding most people seem to have. Actions speak louder than words..... lets see what actually happens rather than what is mentioned in the papers. |

It would be irresponsible for the club to publicly declare their position on contracts before all trade scenarios are put towards them from other clubs. It's best to see what's out there on offer for our players and what players are on offer from other clubs. |

The sooner trade week gets started the happier everyone will be. Its the inactivity that drives people crazy. Or the perception of inactivity at any rate ... for all we know Denis has 10 trades lined up and is getting as annoyed as the rest of us waiting for the starters gun. |

Yes and let Melbourne have a media conference for Yze, Port Adelaide for Pickett and Salopek, Brisbane for Power, Adelaide for Watts, Collingwood for Cole and whoever for whoever. You have got to be kidding. |

I stick by my opinion, I'll take you all on ![]() Who cares what other clubs do I'm a proactive person, I remember when Thompson was announced as available for trade the Kangas came out and declared if you want him we want two picks for him. So if a decision was made last night, and today the players are informed and agree or disagree to the new terms, then i would of thought the club could then be proactive in announcing the new deals or publically announcing player x is available. What cards are you keeping to your chest by announcing this? Everyone knows clubs are chasing Whitnall and Fev and even Lappin, why don't the club take the proactive approach as opposed to waiting for offers by stating what we want!! |

You can be proactive without letting the public know! |

All the clubs/managers are talking at the moment. The press conferences will be held in due course to announce any/all new signings. There's no need to go to the media with any thing else...what is the club going to say: "We only have a bunch of loose ends and rumours, and nothing is locked in..."? So. as Tom Petty once said "The waiting is the hardest part..."!! |

Yes it would... but!!!.... It woul;d be irresponsibl;e for the club to sign anyone up before trade week. (two weeks away) Lance demanded an answer by Friday.. which means that if he is not signed up he will look 'elsewhere' as threatened. What we didnt want is the club to cave in to those demands today.. tomorrow or any other day.... Like i said earlier.. if the club has not made it piublic Lance is not signed up the fact is he isnt signed up and will be trade bait....!!! Signing him up now because of his demands would have been the wrong move... And Lance made it public on friday he was close.. and a source very high up confirmed it ..... Thats NOT what we wanted to hear.....!!! |

Well wrong or right, we will hear about the Lance situation over the weekend. The titles will either be: 'Lance walks out on Carlton' or 'Carlton to trade Whitnall after standing firm on new contract' I know what sounds better to me and that is what my whole point is about. Positive publicity, the club has declared who runs the show. |
