Collo supposedly wanting to cut board from 11 to 7.
David Glascott wanting to run.
Marcus Clarke wanting to be invited.

Sort of wrapped as a board threat to Collo's presidency.

Just reported on Ch.7 News.

A group of up to 5 looking to run for a position on the Carlton Board including Solicitor Marcus Clarke (son of runner Ron) and at least 3 former players including David Glascott.

Good news that there are people stepping forward. Just hope that they are good people.

Reported that Collins wants the number on the board reduced from 11 to 7.

So that sounds to me that any new challengers are not welcome by him.

Running for the vacant positions....but the overall inference of the Craig Hutchison report was a "move towards" getting Collo out....if you like.

The inference was one of imminent change at Carlton.

need a thread merge.

Also Clarke was reported as wanting to be invited to join the board.

Glascott and two other ex players pushing.

the Ch 7 reporter wasn't hutchison, for the record.

I remember Marcus Clarke being involved in a tribunal appeal earlier this year. Or was it last year? I think it failed though.

Anyone who has ever listened to David Glascott speak at a Carlton function could not fail to be impressed by him.

Anyone know who the other ex-players are?

Glascott and Gleeson...
Clarke and one other who will make himself public soon.
Then there is another businessman who is doing some great work behind the scenes at the moment for the club..
There will be a bit of jockeying for spots.
Collo trying to shrink the board is ludicrous.. it should be opened up to new blood not shrunk.. shrunk is when you have everything running wonderfully well and you dont want any loose cannons tossing spanners into the works.
We definitely need new blood with modern ideas.

There will be 3 up plus Kenny Hunter making it four.
Swan is due next term
From memory i think they are Kernahan, Valmorbeda , Pavlou and Hunter..

Personally id like to see 4 new faces.

I heard Collo wasnt going to fill Hunters seat.. that would be criminal in my opion because what that would mean is 2 newies maybe and they move into a board full of the 'Old Firm'

Im glad peoples hands are going up. Its important to the well being of the club.

Its not a board spill.. its a challenge for seats on the board.

Synbad, you mentioned in an earlier thread that Marcus Clarke is an Essendon* man. Is this right, and if so, why would he want to become involved at a board level at Carlton...?

John, everyone around him are Essendon* people... hes Carlton through and through..

And why would he want to become a board member? He is on our social club board doing his apprentiship and being close to the club in that capacity doesnt like the way the club is currently heading.
Hes let a few of them know about it too..
where a few of them are too scared or intimidated to speak up.. Marcus will.. with the clubs best interests at heart.
He has a background in athletic fitness as well as law...and understands sport and business.

Sounds like a pretty smart bloke.

Would be great to see a few new faces on the board.
