He's a tempting prospect. Good height and agility are things that can't really be developed. A brain can be (to a certain extent), and there are plenty of examples running around today of players who had rocky starts to their careers. For a club like the Bulldogs who need talls, and seem to have a pretty good team culture, it could be a risk worth taking. There's a big upside there.

"Football is 90% above the shoulders, the other 10% is talent"

Karl had the 10% covered but failed miserably in the other 90%.

I doubt whether Rodney would consider picking Karl in either draft given he is slowly turning around their culture at the moment. And given their stage in development, I doubt they need Karl down there messing things up.

BTW, didn't he sign with a club that Blake Campbell plays for?

The headline of the article in the Shepp News on Oct 24th was "Mooroopna signs ex-Blue Norman", but in the article it said ""I'm really looking forward to returning to country football," Norman said yesterday upon announcing he would sign on the dotted line for the Cats."

He may not have actually signed and I guess Mooroopna would be a little shitty if he does go to the Dogs.

He still qualifies for a rookie spot (less than 30 games, under 23), that's the only way a club would take a chance on him.

I really do think we tend to overrate the guys talent...

he showed glimpses but that's about it

guys who 'make it' as a seventh round pick are very rare beasts (and they;re usually of the very dedicated mould)

I think the Bullies had a dip at Saddington and remember traded Bowden and have told Bandy he wont be getting any senior games so they are a bit light on for size..I reckon they will take Karl with their last pick...its his size that his appealing and his skill level for a player that big is very good....SOS could be a guiding influence and maybe has told Eade that Norman could be a good get....I'm of the other view..headcase player who
doesnt have the mental aptitude or application to make it...

From today's Shepparton News:

Quote:
"Nothing's confirmed," Mooroopna coach Derek Hall said.

"I've spoken to Karl and it (the Bulldogs' interest) is news to him.

"But you'd never stand in the way of a young bloke trying to make it at AFL level.

"We'll just wait and see what happens."

I could see Karl doing pretty well at the dogs under a guy like Eade.

Also, from memory there was a post on TBV last year from someone who said they had a beer with Karl's old man, who told him the family are mad Footscray supporters & Karl himself still kept a keen eye on them.

Hotton was a head case but a change of scenery helped him. I like to compare Karl with Trent and like to think that Karl at a different club might be able to play on at the elite level. No star but a good fill in player.

Its only when you lose something that you realise its worth. Karl lost his chance to play , he's probably had some time on the "piss" to realise that football might be worth a decent go and someone like Eade/SOS or even Sheedy/Harvey might be the recipe for that "last chance"opportunity.

Seriously though whether Karl continues on or not , it will be no detriment to the CFC that he was delisted.

Good Bye Karl and Good Luck. Its only up to you.

For most players I'd agree but the problem with all this T-boy is that it assumes that Karl has the capacity to reflect, analyse and act accordingly.

Was there something you saw during Karl's time at Carlton that made you think that this could be the case?

One thing that does surprise about Karl is his almost non stop publicity.

For a not proven A grade player;he certainly keeps the press interested.

He's been a "story" now for longer than even "Mad Dog Muir" was in his heyday.
