I think the new rule is well thought out, that if you have a bad season you get some bonus (but not too much). And if you have 2 bad seasons you get real bonus. Although they should have kept it at the current level of 5 wins rather than the new level of 4 wins. Everyone knows that Carlton is a genuinely crap side with a genuinely crap list, and we wouldn't have qualified under new rule. It's hard to see anyone ever qualifying again for the real priority pick now. |

The top-rated 2 or 3 players will still go to the bottom 2 or 3 sides; those sides just won't have as easy access to the next group of half-dozen players. Or to put it another way: If the new proposals applied to next weeks draft we'd still have pick number 1, it's pick no 4 that we wouldn't have. |
