I haven't been this excited at this time of year since we were about to snaffle Brendon Goddard and Daniel Wells.

I've still got an interview here from the Age with Wells who said he was "busting to play under Denis Pagan and become a top AFL midfielder like Michael Voss"

I know it's premature to envisage success next year based on what we know and the promise of the unknown to come next Saturday; but I had the feeling towards the end of this season that our fortunes were looking up at last.

We've had virtually no excitement at PP since Andrew Walker's outstanding debut; and we're starved for that buzz that accompanies the emergence of a young player and the brilliance we accepted as the norm in days gone by.

Are we about to enter the "New Carlton Era"?....can it be?....am I expecting too much?....I've got a feeling in my Carlton bones.

It's not that glorious Spring training and Sunshine of us in the Finals feeling; it's just a feeling of "We're not that far off being back where we belong"

Bring it on!....C'mon Blues!

Great post!

I'm excited too - this time in three days we'll have some excited youngsters parading around in the navy blue ready to embark on their AFL careers.

I personally cannot wait to see Marc Murphy towel up Wells, and see anyone else we take in this years draft give Goddard a hiding. Hopefully then we can bury the Black Friday rubbish once and for all.

The karma train is finally about to stop at our station - and this time it's giving, not taking.

GO BLUES!!!

I feel sorry for the kid, he's instead ended up playing under Grant Thomas and is becoming a run of the mill AFL back flanker.

I'm looking forward to a draft where we get to use all our pics.

When a certain overweight and ugly AFL Executive is run over by the karma train I will certainly be satisfied.

Tell me about it. I am so looking forward to this draft. I cannot even concentrate at work. I just hope we are not disappointed.

Great stuff Warby.

Heard Rohan Welsh interviewed on SEN this morning & he likened MM to Ben Cousins…based on ball winning & using ability.

:-D

Wells and Goddard didn't do anything to hurt us, the penalty we got had nothing to do with them other than we missed out on getting them.

He did.

He said Beau hates the colour blue and despises monograms.

Mate I was getting ready for work & only caught bits & pieces but pretty sure they mentioned his injury isn't as bad as first thought...

Said he's really good below his knees for a tall bloke.

But I guess you wou;ld of got the same thrill with pick 7 right ?????

I still hated losing, and I'd still be excited to see new blood coming into the club, whether it's pick 1 or 7. I still like to believe that we got pick 1 on our merits (ie we were that shit). If I ever found out that we deliberately tanked I'd have to seriously reconsider my support.

If you want to barrack for a club that is willing to accept losing as an option, then that's fine. I'm not, and if you can't accept that then I genuinely pity you. It means you have taken your passion and whored it off to Demetriou and his mates.

And heaven forbid if anyone start a positive thread around here. Some people need to lighten the f*ck up. No wonder talking stuff is so bloody popular.

Aint that the truth!

Regardless of what happens; I always have and always will love Carlton.

The say love is blind....maybe so; but I've made my bed and I'm happy to keep lying in it.

Everyone please:
If pick 1(murph) and pick 4 dont become superstars in there debut year dont jump down there back. Be patient and give them time to shine. We would hate to burn them out like we did with Livingston....

I was as excited as an alcoholic accidentally locked in a bottleshop overnight last year, and our first pick then was 9.
