As is the new trendy thing to do these days (Thanks Grant) the leadership group, with the exception of the captain of course, will be selected by the players in a vote. As a result last years leadership group contained Anthony Koutoufides, Ian Prendergast, David Teague, Scott Camporeale, Barnaby French, Matthew Lappin, Nick Stevens and Lance Whitnall.

If you could choose this years leadership group who would be in it? The only rules are that it must contain Kouta as captain and that it contains eight players.

Mine would be: Kouta, Stevens, Whitnall, Thornton, Scotland, Waite, French and Fevola.

My reasoning adding for Fevola is that as a leader he won't be just one of the boys and will have to accept some responsibility.

I think Cory McGrath might be a decent shout for a spot, not basing that on anything though and probably down to the fact that we don't seem to be brimming with leadership potential; I would also consider it unlikely that Fev would be in there.

So I'll go: Kouta, Whitnall, Stevens, Scotland, Waite, Lappin, French and McGrath.

I am not familiar with 'leadership group' as a footy term - is that some new age St Kilda loving thing that you closet Saint fans want? How many exactly are required for a leadership group? 4-8?

I think we have to give a leg-up to the career of one of the real youngsters, hopefully one of them who can handle themselves in the press. Carlton is very quiet in the press as Kouta doesnt say much. Bentick and Simpson took alot of press, especially in the second half of the season. I know its a pressure on them bla bla but we have to provide a link to a possible rosy future. I'd pick Bentick because the guy is a great speaker.

Kouta, Stevens, Lappin, french, Bentick

Kouta, Big Black, Skinny, Stevens, French, T-Bird, Teague, Waite.

Give Bentick one more year to prove himself and then if he's still going along nicely 2007 will be his year.

Bentick gets a big tick from me as well.

Teague I'm not sure about as I said in another thread his performances will not guarantee a spot in the senior 22 if he performs like he did in 2005.

So my line up would be

Captain:

Kouta

Vice Captain:

Stevens

Deputies:

French
Thornton
Bentick
Whitnall
Lappin

for me it should be:

Kouta, Stevo, Fev, Lappin, Waite, French and Thornton

Fev needs to be in the leadership group it will make a even better player.

I disagree.

I don't think Fevola is a leader of the club. Sure he is a very talented player, but I don't think he has the necessary leadership qualities that a Barnaby French or a Nick Stevens has.

Sounds like you should sign up to assist on Blueseum. You clearly have a lot of time on your hands, now that the Herald-Sun is done with you.

I suspect the Herald Sun will need to go back to the well again someday
