Baum says of Carlton's recruits,

"All are thin-limbed,"

This description doesn't fit Murphy or Edwards. Seems Baum's innaccuracies are carrying over from his writings on the world game.

What a great article.

Is it just me or are Carlton and Hawthorn getting the bulk of the pre-season media attention? I only have online access to go on, but the age is full of Carlton related stories and even the AFL site when I just checked has three of the four main stories relating to something Carlton.

Our communications/PR department must be doing something right.

And i must admit from what I read I am pretty impressed with the character of the new recruits. No fuss, no fanfare, ego's checked at the door and just eager to have a go.

Man it does make for exciting times.

Vintage, I haven't seen that much of them, only the photos here, but I think with the exception of one guy who looks like he is a bit of a brut, it is a pretty accurate description.

Would it be apt to say that Collingwood helped him get to Carlton!

Is that Irony?8)

Yesterday was for making new acquaintance. Among the watchers were Josh Kennedy's father, Jamie, and grandmother, Kath. She wore a small Collingwood badge, affirming a lifelong loyalty.

Edit:I didn't like this part coming from a Pies fan !

Great article. Have to agree about Edwards being the most eloquent. Saw him interviewed on the news last night and he spoke well.

Loved the part where he said he'd "play footy on the moon".

That is a great article.

An earlier one said Edwards's grandfather is now going to try and live another 5 years so he can see his grandson play. I hope we don't keep him waiting that long.

1st time some toothless wonder yells abuse at Jake, or the 1st time some Filth sniper gives him one Grandma will be converted. Showing an old lady the way after a lifetime of disappointment can only be one more good thing to come out of this draft!!!

Yep, this is one of a few good positive articles I've read recently...good PR by the blues, hope it keeps going and the excitement/anticipation builds. :)

Showed Pagan introducing him to the group in the new theatrette, then a very brief snippet of Murphy saying he was nervous at training & is looking fwd to the next session.

It was pretty short…you didn't miss much

Enjoyed the article. Hope springs eternal.

Can I suggest a new nickname for Jake Edwards? How about "Meatloaf"?
