Post subject: | Josh Kennedy- Long term injury list? |
Just wondering with Josh Kennedy looking to be out for up to 6 months will the club elect to place him on the longterm injury list and allow one of our rookies to be able to play senior footy for us? or will the 6 months that is quoted he will need to recover long enough for him to be available early in 06 for selection. if josh is either unavailable early in the year due to a setback or injury taking longer than expected who would be the likely player elivated? jesse smith?? one of our rookie choices we take this year?? |

If Kennedy does go LTI list he'll have to be late June/early July for a return. The club won't let on who they have in mind until round 1...ish. Jesse D. would seem the goer at present but who knows? OhAilpin 2 or Batson if French or McLaren go down...maybe one of the new rookies...maybe a semi-pro golfer from Quebec with tentacles? Maybe. My tentacle is rising. Injuries are fun. |

Remember that the question of transferring him to the LTI would be determined in the week before Round 1. At that time, he would be assessed by the AFL Medical Officer. Unless he is more likely than not to be unfit to play at least 8 games of AFL and VFL football after that assessment, then he can't be transferred. So the real question is whether he would be able to play VFL football before June 2006. If so, no go. If he is transferred to the LTI list, he is prohibited from playing VFL footy until he is transferred back to the primary list. It goes without saying that we want to put as many games into him this year as we can, so we wouldn't lightly put him in mothballs for 8 weeks. |

I'd be stoked to see the kids playing regular games next year. That is all i have asked this year and got my wish in the final 6 rounds. The Hawthorn approach has merit and is exciting for all supporters even with short term pain. |
