1 Nicholls Great leader tough brilliant ruckman.Didnt name the B and F after him for nothing. Played for a long period of time.
2 Silvangi Brilliant defender athletic early became the greatest exponent of not giving away free kicks when he gave away 100s in a game.Played on the greatest collection of full forwards and beat them all.Could also kick a goal
3Braddles Best kicking skills of any player, durable ,consistent over the longest career of any Blues player.Had the rare combo of pace and endurance.A legend.
4Doull All great sportspeople have one thing in common.Great balance. The Doormat was supreme in this area and could play on all types of forwards.Over 350 games and only a few dud ones .Awesome.
5Williams Short career at Blues land compared to others, but best eye hand skills of any player to play the game.Fat slow, but kept getting the ball. And as tough as nails.
6Ratten Incrediably underated,Great eye hand coordination, super tough, consistent ,could kick goals if given a forward roll, best and fairest record second to none in the Braddles, Diesel era says it all .
7Jezza the most versatile player of all time.Could play anywhere. Also super tough.Never took his eye off the pill.
8Wayne Johnson Never won a Norm Smith. It can be argued that he could have won 4.His Grand final record assures his spot in the top 10.
9Southby The Silvangi factor makes people forget how good a full back this guy was.
10 Sticks Got the most out of his football talent.Captain supremo and more senior goals than any other player. If you didnt look up to this bloke ,you were a moron

I cant see any older guys who could top these 10 players.Chitty goes close, perhaps Vallence.Like to here other posters top 10 in order.

Jezza at 7? Surely you'd have to have in the top 3?!?!?!

Big Nick

Barassi
Doull
Williams
Kouta
(Soapy / Chitty )Never saw them - Record says they must be.
Braddles
Fitzpatrick
Ashman
Tiger Crosswell
Jezza

And I got 11 in no particular order

Well I'll have a crack, but I'm not going to rate anyone I haven't seen play.

1 Kernahan.
2 Kouta
3 Silvagni
4 Dominator
5 Diesel
6 Braddles
7 Ratten
8 McKay
9 Hunter
10 Peter Dean

Now I did see Doull play but was only 8 when he retired, didn't see the best of him and don't want to judge him based on what I saw. Of course I've seen video etc but these are guys I saw play a lot.

I was going to have Croswell.Despite being a great leader, I actually reckon Fitzpatrick was a tad overated. McGregor argument is valid though he didnt dominate those finals. In 20 final appearances McGregor was in the best on 10 occasions and BOG only twice.

Jezza
Sticks
Nichols
Hunter
Bradley
Williams
Johnson
Doull
Silvagni
The Buzz...FREAK

Then there is Southby, McKay, Ratten, Ashman, Harmes...

And Paul Meldrum on a dufflecoat...Dortich with his penis free...Buckley around a telephone pole...Merv Neagle.

I'm with bluehammer, only judging those I've seen play over the last 20 years and I'm not ranking them in order either.

Silvagni
Williams
Kernahan
McKay
Johnston
Ratten
Hunter
Bradley
Dean
Kouta

Considered Lappin, Sexton, Hanna, Brown and Madden also

I could include Doull, Jezza and Big Nick just on reputation and having it installed into me every week by my Dad growing up.

1: Nick - not just what he did, but what he allowed his team to do. Nick made every player better amd hurt any opposition player, he was called Big Nick not for his size, but for his impact.

2: Jezza - Only Nick ahead of him because of the way Nick could influence a team.

3: Diesal - probably should be higher hell I can't displace those first two. 2 Brownlows, should have been 3.

4: Crosswell - for sheer brilliance this bloke is oft forgotten but jesus he could play.

5: Sticks - Great player, great captain.

6: Dominator - pound for pound, the best finals player I have seen in Navy Blue.

7: Doull - For him to be rated 7 shows just how great the champions of this club are.

8: Southby - until that fateful whack, Geoff Southby redefined this game. His anticipation, his run, his ability to shut down the best and then almost taunt them was amazing. he was whacked because that was how to win that final, by taking him out!

9: Walls - often overlooked when discussion about great CHF's take place, but he was easily one of the best.

10: Bradley - never beaten, always ran, as good a competitor as anyone who has played.

And there are probably ten more who could fit in and it would still be an amazing list.

The best player ive seen play in a CFC jersey is SOS!

He was just so consistant, and was rarely beaten.
When he was rarely beaten, he would be put at FF and score goals with ease.
He held our backline the best full back ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... Just dont let him comentate!

I think SOS was better than southby but only marginally and you would love to find romm for THE BUZZ if only he had played longer

I chose Southby over SOS but both were great, just I remember how astonishing Southby was with those runs and his kicking was brilliant. Buzz was great but I would not have him in my top 10.

Remember those drop kicks Danny that seemed like they went half the length of the feild

ahh the drop kick. Nothing sweeter has been lost to the game than the drop kick. And coaches want a say in the direction of this game pffft.

In fact i have often wondered why a player doesn't try a drop kick at TD. Reckon you could pass from FB to the HF line. If they can drop kick that is. remember Robbo's drop kicks.

The player i think mosty worthy who missed in my top ten (besides SOS) would be Swan, bloody hell he could play. And Hunter... shit 10 is just too damn hard!
