Post subject:	Redevelopment of OO.
A few comments this morning about the MCC allocating funds for Kangas, Blues and Tigers home ground developments. $10m? from the MCC + grants from the AFL. Most focus has been on the Roos recieving funds for Arden Street but we are in the mix as well. Does anyone have any further info? I went to the MCC site but there was no mention there.

According to the council report, the Optus Oval refurbishment could cost $10 million without demolition.

Why sepnd any money on Arden St? Its a ghetto. Has the AFL gone bonkers. Give the money to us and sends the roos over to OO.

Our club was given assurances that relocating our home ground would allow for redevelopment work to occur at OO and this has know been compromised by other ex-VFL grounds suddenly being eligible for development monies! Was our club aware of this before agreeing to the overtures of the AFL?

The late MCB imposter implied, Collo and AD had an understanding but Collo had some reservations & AD pulled this part of the deal. The way things are turning out, it may have some truth. Conspiracies aside, to get Government money, the ground upgrades have to have community use and benefit, I'd say that's where Carlton struggle, the demographic surrounding Optus Oval isn't a struggling class of people - this is a big factor in how labor governments allocate funds.

The MCC funds have nothing to do with an agreement with the AFL. The reports indicate Carlton, Richmond and the Roos will all be recieving substantial funds from the MCC and AFL to improve there facilities. The reason Arden Street is a priority is because it is a safety risk. Most of the site is condemned and an eyesore. The agreement with the AFL was for Carlton to cease playing at OO to be eligible for funds. Everything I've heard in the past couple of days indicates that's exactly what will happen.
