I'm starting to notice a real trend amongst posters of this board, and really, carlton supporters in general.

Most (and notice i say most, so dont everyone go wild at me for pigeon holing you all) of the people that post on this board belong to one of two categories.

in one corner we have the nay sayers---who repeatedly post comments and opinions such as "We are crap" "What is Pagan doing" "Pagan is crap" "What is Collins doing" "Collins is crap". there are many people who post that they cant see the carlton football club ever rising out of the cellar and that this is merely the beginning of the end, doomsdayers if you will.

in the other corner, weighing in at a hefty "what?" are the unrealists. This genus of carlton supporter is overtly confident, regularly posting comments like "marc murphy is the messiah" "murphy is god"

whatever happened to the supporters that have realistic expectations....i would occasionally like to log onto this board and read someone say "marc murphy is a top young talent, yes, but lets not have too high expectations on him, just because his predecessor humber 1 picks have one on to dominate in their first year does not mean the trend will continue. lets just invest some time into him and let him develop at his own pace." or perhaps "Denis Pagan hasn't had the best years at the club, agreed, but he is completely changing the culture of the carlton football club and rebuilding from the ground up, he is doing a good job, and i can see what he is trying to do." or how about we go out on a limb and say "yeah maybe we arent doing all that well, and the next few years may be lean as well but with a young list up and coming, perhaps we may take a step towards the finals in a couple of years, one step at a time, we cn try and take this club back to where it is."

IMO the supporters who champion the club unrealistically are just as damaging as the "supporters" who nay say everything the club is involved in....

so some realism please. food for thought.

We came 16th - we are crap. Fact.

Marc Murphy is the messiah. Well, he's the son of a very very very good footballer. Fact.

Bank of New Zealand, to be fair, I don't think you're paying attention. I think theres a hell of a lot of different views, different positions on Carlton, and there are too many categories to try to describe the people on here.

Gold. Speedy (Gonazales?). Gold.

I don't think there's anyone who could argue that we're not crap. And I don't think there's anyone who could say they are not both fed up, and sick and tired, of watching inept, non-competitive football from the Blue Boys. I don't think this is the beginning of the end, I just think it's taking alot longer than we all hoped to become competitive again, Carlton will be back, no problems about that. Not sure which tupe of person that makes me?

I agree with Athorn. I think bnz needs to read a bit more.

Maybe the naysayers and the un-realists just post louder.

oh....and what's a "eart"?

It's all about how you look at it and how long you are prepared to wait. As has been said before, as Carlton supporters through the decades, we have never been put through this before. We have never tasted what it's like to be the cellar dwellar of the competition and this is why I am somewhat grateful for Black Friday. Yeah we got bent over a barrel and copped a good rodgering from the AFL, but who here can tell me we didn't deserve to be caught?

I'm glad we got caught because if it went on any longer we probably wouldn't have a Carlton Football Club to talk about.

I'm hopeful. In fact, I'm extremely hopeful that we will come out the other end of this debacle a better club and beter supporters. We will be better off for having the experience. We just have to iron out the little chinks in the armour and we'll eventually get there. I have no doubt that Pagan won't be around to see our seeds bear fruit, but he will always be remembered as the man who steered the ship back in the right direction. Laying down the foundation for future success. Much like Clarkson is doing at Hawthorn.

I'm in it for the long haul like most supporters are. There will be times when we can't take it anymore and there will be times when we sit back and think to ourselves "gee, this is good".

Can you tell me we were the only team who deserved to get caught? I've long suspected, its probably been talked about and I heard from what could be an unreliable source the other week that we were most definitely not the only team doing it....but the AFL needed to bring down one of the Big 4 Melbourne teams and we were a convienient target.

As for being glad we were caught....Collins and Co were already in charge by the time the penalties were handed out...i would assume they were already going to change our outlook without us losing 4 picks and $900k.

Agreed with everything else you said :)

You're right, Brad, we aren't the only team that should have got caught. Year after year I'm always wondering how Fremantle are keeping it all together, but they still manage to.

next time i will have another look at my spelling.....would hate to incur wrath from angry posters who would rather point out the spelling mistakes than think of constructive things to say.....

I've just got this to say BNZ

marc murphy is a top young talent, yes, but lets not have too high expectations on him, just because his predecessor humber 1 picks have one on to dominate in their first year does not mean the trend will continue. lets just invest some time into him and let him develop at his own pace. Denis Pagan hasn't had the best years at the club, agreed, but he is completely changing the culture of the carlton football club and rebuilding from the ground up, he is doing a good job, and i can see what he is trying to do. Yeah maybe we arent doing all that well, and the next few years may be lean as well but with a young list up and coming, perhaps we may take a step towards the finals in a couple of years, one step at a time, we cn try and take this club back to where it is

......there exactly what you asked for

Isn't it uncanny how you were able to imagine exactly what I was going to say even down to the typo in the last line

I'm not takin the piss...........no really.........I'm not.

i seriously just think that its kind of stupid and petty that when someone posts their opinion on here, that that person then gets shot down for grammatical errors. i've tried to post something on here that would bring about some discussion, and well, i guess it's done that, but i was hoping that the discussion wouldnt be about the english language.

i'm not having a sook or anything like that, but like i said, picking up the grammatical errors and "taking the piss" is not constructive comments and just lead to more people looking at topics and discussions and not wanting to post....card me, whatever, but i think it's bullshit.

i have been a regular poster on this board and in recent months have seen it's content suffer due to people posting the same damn things every single day.....how about we all line up and say how much we hate campo, all line up and say how marc murphy is a god, all line up and kiss the mods arses.....

POW right there baby!!!!

best post i have read here for a long time. not only did he bring up a very big issue, but he also backed it up again with another quality post. I know exactly what you mean bnz, some of the people on here are a little too light hearted at the wrong times....this is a serious issue and people try to pick shit on other parts of this then acknowledging the important shit. you are a wise man bnz...

I would like to publicly apologise to bnz for upsetting him. My intent was not to "shoot you down" but just to have a joke. It has been done many times before, but you seem to be sensitive about your typing, so again...I'm sorry.

I'll go back to my original intention and say that there are just as many in-betweeners as the far right and the far left.
