I think it will have an effect but it has been built up more than what it is. If anyone watched the last international rules match it was very fast paced and it was exciting. I think the rule will benefit us alot next year as we struggle in contested situations.

I think it will have an effect and agree with Simon Blacks comments about more midfield rotations....are we going to persist with players like Chris Bryan kicking the ball in or will the plan be to let the closest player to the ball kick it back as quickly as possible in an effort to find a free player up the ground.....I think it does alter your game plan and where players position themselves...especially your midfielders.
Some teams like Geelong who have a specialist kicker like Josh Hunt you wouldnt see changing their tactics and would still have Hunt doing all the kicking...but that might cost them if Hunt cant get back that quickly and another player less skilled has to take the kick.....

Like the rest of you, I cannot see this rule change having no effect, no matter what the coaches say. Someone will come up with a tactic to maximize their benefit from it, and will catch out sides by it, until a countermeasure is designed, just like thew huddle and the zone. Inevitable.
