http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg=events Put it in your diary folks. I know this has been mentioned before but why supporters are charged to enter is beyond me. ![]() I would have thought it was a great opportunity to get people along and introduce them to the experience of the Carlton Football Club and view them as potential members. Not to make a bit of coin. |

$10 for non members....I'm sorry but I agree, thats rich. The whole purpose is to encourage memberships, to slug someone who has an intent to purchase a membership on the day $10 is very, very rich and misguided. |

Charging people to attend the family day is pretty pathetic.....Do you know what Collingwood are charging for their family day???? Absolutely nothing. That's how a professional club markets itself....... |

Blue Vain wrote: I know this has been mentioned before but why supporters are charged to enter is beyond me. ![]() Spot on. I said the same last year and think the price has actually gone up! Strange thing last year was that they had the membership tents outside the ground so I stood in the queue to hand over social club fees for Dad and myself (about $650 total) before being told they wanted more before I could go inside! The day is a good idea, but should be focussed on getting members, not revenue at the turnstile. The latter approach is too short-sighted, if people (especially junior supporters) have a great time at days like this they will be supporters for life. |

I tend to agree that it's too much to ask for non-members. The club should take the $10 entry fee off their membership fee if they join up on the day. I also reckon paid up 2006 members should be able to walk through the gates for nothing, but I'm not gonna cry over a fiver. The day should be all about winning hearts and minds rather than trying to make a couple of grand. |

Yep stuff it I'm not going. I'll pay my membership money before the season starts - slogging me an extra $10 because I haven't got it yet is a joke. It's off to Daylesford with the girls instead I think! |

If it really upsets people off, then put it in writing and send it to the club. Don't forget to include your name and membership number. blues@carltonfc.com.au membership@carltonfc.com.au |

And I assume Balfours are sponsoring it, so they will pay for the kids rides. Memberships and merchandise should cover most costs. If the players put on a BBQ you would rake in the coin. I think we really really are cash poor, to do this? At least have a raffle ticket for the ten bucks and give away a signed Campo Essendon* jumper left in car park last trade week to burn or some player signed pictures DVD's, etc. Maybe even have Walks belt out a song or player idol or something, like TFS gala. The sight of Cameron Croad looking very weary standing with farm animals in the kids petting zoo playing with his mobile, and talking to some young underdressed ladies looking for more than innocent fun is etched on my brain. That said I'll be there. |

"Roving Performers Roving". Interesting. $10 that's a bit steep for non members, like you said. I dunno if I'm going to go now. Yikes. And I really wanted to go. With luck, my Dad will say yes. He owes me for last year anyway. |

Sounds more fun in Newcastle FOC: Animals, wrestling and roving performers...... To quote the coach (not the cat the other one) "He came out of nowhere, complete with a cat on his shoulder, if you don't mind, and walked up to me saying, 'This is my coach'. A few of the local rugby boys grabbed him very quickly and threw him out." Hore then made his way to Carlton's intra-club practice match, arriving on a tricycle. But seriously can this cat coach?, mine would put his paw up for the job if Pago steps down. He's great in the box on matchdays (if sand filled) or whenever he needs a comfort break. All business -no magazine reading. I even have a slogan taken from the mid-nineties "Unleash the Mr Peeps" (He commands respect, like Mr Hiddink). |
