I was just trawling the Blueseum player numbers section, and when I got to #4, I had a vague recollection that Mark Buckley wore #4 before Sticks. I know Buckley wore #55 for a time, but I think he wore #4 at least for a short time. Can anyone confirm?

Wore it between the Buzz and Sticks...

IIRC his father Brian wore the same number back in the Sixties!

Saw Mark Buckley absolutely towel up Ross Glendinning at Princes Park in the early 80s. Was a good mark for his size (around 187cm) but very slight build. One of those "thereabouts" players who lacked opportunities due to the huge depth of talent we had at the club around the time, I thought that he actually got Number 10 - but happy to be proved wrong on that point.

On reflection you could be right Agro..Age does some terrible things to the mind(and that is before wine/beer).

I,m sure Brian was his father though,a pretty reliable defender and #4 rings a bell!

Looks like you are all correct.

just had a look and Mark Buckley's data

Wore 55 for 4 games in 1982
Wore 10 for 22 games in 1983 and 1984
Wore 4 for one game in 1985

The locker room is going to be changed to reflect every player to have worn each number rather than those players that wore a particular number the most in their career.

This will mean that players will appear on more than one 'locker' but it will be useful for interesting pieces of trivia such as who wore 4 between the Buzz and Sticks.

... and Brian Buckley wore 35 for his first four games and then spent the rest of his career in the number 4.

Thanks to Stephen Williamson for the data.

Outstanding work. This is the power of the Blueseum! But it needs everyone's memories to get it right.

Hey Jarusa, i've just updating the Squad Locker Room for change of numbers and things like this. Are you considering amendments inside the Locker Room itself to reflect other numbers? Should I stop in the SLR at the moment?

Feel free to keep going, it won't effect the stuff I'll be changing.

I noticed Mark Buckley's page is blank too. Anyone out there who can describe his career? Or has any pictures or scans of old scanlens cards of him?

Even information as simple as whether he was a left or right footer helps, it all counts.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure he's a member of the group of players to kick a goal with his first kick in VFL/AFL football.

sorry Keysey... it is an A F L link not a carltonfc.com.au link. I think TC auto-changes this?

Ah, It's an AFL link. It must be right then!

Anybody else on TC with me on this? Did Mark Buckley kick a goal with his first kick or not?

sorry keyser - can't remember

while we're talking about number 4's, my (probably faulty) memory tells me Tony Southcombe wore #4 in 1977, yet he's missing from the Blueseum locker too. Can anyone help out here?
