Another positive media report. :-D
Pagan Beliefs

DENIS PAGAN ON . . .

ANTHONY KOUTOUFIDES
He played all 22 games last year, he was on the ground more than everybody else. He’s been captain when Carlton has been through its roughest patch in the history of the club, and I think he’s been admirable the way he’s carried himself.

LANCE WHITNALL
Lance might have had a few issues early on, but from the time he’s come back, he’s been terrific. No one tries harder or pushes himself harder than Lance.

BRENDAN FEVOLA
He wanted to move on, but Richmond was the only club that showed any interest and that was very scant. Brendan came back and said he really wanted to stay and to commit himself, and he’s certainly done that. His recovery from groin surgery has been great, he hasn’t put a foot wrong.

As opposed to this negative article about the injuries to Saddington, Stevens, Edwards and Kennedy. Only two-four lines on the game and who even played well. A full page on every other club's games.

How could they end the article with this? :x Without explaining themselves. Talk about putting undue pressure on the kid.

That quote was from Damian Barrett in the 'Herald Sun'.

Contrast it with Rohan Connolly in 'The Age':

Quote:
Marc Murphy, the No. 1 draft pick, impressed with a consistent on-ball performance.

No excuse, but probably should be put down to the journalists not necessarily knowing who was who due to the lack of proper numbers for players (Why does the club do that?).

I think thats shoddy journalism. Numbers or not you should know who the players are (being a sports journalist). And if you're not too sure dont single out a player for not being impressive without any reasoning (especially one of the youngest and newest players to the club).

The Age has always been more objective in it's reporting of Carlton.

Murph was wearing his proper guernsey number anyway.

I thought it was pretty much common knowledge before and during the Trading Period.

The view I took from Talking Carlton was that we were looking to trade Fev, not the other way round. It was certainly the way that Synbad's arguments at the time read - that the club had decided to keep Whitnall but were looking to offload Fev. I didn't get the belief that Fev was the one who wanted out.

Well, if Fev wanted out then of course we'd be looking to trade him. ;)

Disappointing though, he'll probably always have a question mark over his commitment I'd say. Perhaps he wanted to go to Richmond because Richo only has a couple of years left in him.
