Hi TCer's I've read a lot about how young our list is and alot of statistical data on height improvement on our list but what I am interested in knowing (and I hope someone can help) is the weight of our playing list compared to other lists.

Looking at the great photo's from Mordan the Blues look huge and I want to get some perspective on what our opponents are like. For example I read an article the other day that put T-Bird in the high 90 kilo range (that is a fair improvement on the T-Bird that was floating through the packs over the last couple of years). However, the photo of Lloyd in the paper today makes him look like Gorilla...

Any info would be great!!!

That's an interesting one, BSS. Our list, and that of our opposition won't be updated until just before the season starts. As of about November it appears we had an average weight of about 87.3kg. If this was compared to the stats on www.allthestats.com from Dec 2004 we would be second only to Geelong in size .

Keep an eye on that site, and on www.footywire.com as they will be updated soon. We are definately bigger than any of the previous 4 years...... I think Dennis has a plan .

At this time of year, all photos are doctored by the clubs to ensure players all look 15kg heavier.

With the exception of Lance who has the reverse treatment.

Next we'll hear that Luke Blackwell is a 95kg HULK of a man....

According to the just released AFL 2006 Season Preview, the averages for our list are as follows:

Age: 22 yrs, 260 days (3rd youngest behind Hawthorn, 22 yrs, 151 days and Sydney, 22 yrs, 207 days)

Height: 189 cm (tallest with Essendon* and Western Bulldogs)

Weight: 87 kg (Kangaroos heaviest @ 90 kg, and Hawthorn lightest @ 86 kg)
