Having watched the geelong game i came away thinking that yes our youngsters are going along quite well, and the signs are good for our future.... However, the other thing i noticed was just how important lance Whitnall is to our structure. Lance was awsome against geelong especially in that second quarter when he reppeled everything that came in... My point is that if Lance gets injured, so does our competative streak.... Without Lance we would of been pumped on Saturday. |

I am a Lance fan but I actually thought he was so so on Sat Firearm. I'd prefer to see him played up forward anyway. |

LANCE MUST NOT HAVE A DIRECT OPPONENT |

Ck95, I thought he was superp on Saturday when you consider he came back overweight and he had some catching up to do...Not to mention it was Feb 25th......... If a had a choice i would play him out of the goalsquare with Fevs much like the lockett dunstall combo in the state of origin all those years ago... Porblem is we can't afford to take him out of defence, he is pretty much the dam we need to stop as much of the floods as possible.... Plus he is a good example for someone like Hartlett to learn from.. Budzy stop yelling... I think you will find he will play the role of the loose man in defence this year, which he has done before... |

exactly budzy. as soon as he knew he couldn't keep up with his opponent he backed off and tryed to play it safe, conceeding the contest for the ball. not sure but sometimes you see this to well on telly. sure some times he gets away with it but other times we are going to get burnt, badly. |

I thought he was ordinary...you would hardly call Gardiner and Tom Lonergan household names yet I thought they both had their moments against Whitnall..culminating in Lonergan selling a nice fake to Lance and then bounding away to kick a nice goal...that was Lance floundering behind Lonergan wasnt it?...not my idea of a CHB.. If thats a good game god help us when he has play CHB on a name player like Reiwoldt, Brown etc.....we seem to be confused about Lances role, if you play CHB you stop your player thats your first objective, providing drive by getting cheap kicks in a Jason Cloke fashion is a secondary role....maybe some of you good judges can tell me where we are going to hide him when we play a team like Stkilda and there is no Charlie Gardiner or Longergan to play on..its Kosi, Reiwoldt or Gehrig... |

You reckon? the room he gave those no-namers in the first half kept the Cats in it! |

First and foremost, Budzy stop being a smartass.. Secondly, everyone is having a dip at me for thinking that Lance played well, but no one will say a word about anyone else that can fill his shoes should Lance get injured.... If he goes down, we are [REDACTED]..Not beyond all recognition, but we are in big trouble... |

Lance was never a defender and will never be a defender. His best position is in the forward line. The only good thing about Carlton at the moment is that we have lots of forward options. Our biggest weakness I believe is our defence unless a couple of young kids put there hands up in defence or Sadington comes back and can play a key role in defence. Unfortuanetly Lance will be in defence all year becuase we a screaming for defenders. |

Look FF the papers all agree with you and say he was great, but I just thought espeically in the first half he couldnt get it, and his man was getting very near it. If he fell down injured then it would be in: Saddington or Livo and they would probablyplay Thornton up the ground. |

I'm usually a big supporter of Lance, but I reckon he had a pretty ordinary game on Saturday night. Gave away at least 2 goals with silly play, letting Gardiner through on the boundary, and also not standing on the mark at the 50 and letting the Geelong player get another couple of metres closer to goal when kicking. He also should have tried to tackle Kingsley instead of holding his arms up trying to stop him dishing off while standing 3 metres away, in the meantime Kingsley just leant back and booted the goal through with no pressure. Hopefully he is just getting the kinks out during the pre-season and not a sign of things to come. |

If he goes down, we are F@%&#!..Not beyond all recognition, but we are in big trouble... Jarrod Waite to CHB.....or Bret Thornton or if its a Kosi/Rocca type tall then I would play Mclaren at CHB.. |

maybe bannister or perhaps even bryan may be reasonable options. i reckon they would probably be a bit more mobile than dylan mclaren. i'd like to see how banno would go. T bird has to play on the half back line somwhere though. he's not a last liner |

Didn't think he had a good game either. And I don't think he should play at CHB - he's not quick enough. But I do think there is a spot for him on the backline. His ability to read the play (no I'm not to mention the brain..) makes up for the lack of pace sometimes but he will be exposed by better, quicker CHF's. If he gets injured I agree that we will suffer, however, we're rebuilding anyway so it will just give one of the others a chance to step up. Oh and budzy, can you speak up, I can't hear you!! ![]() |

Please please no more mentioning of Waite to the back line...Every year this seems to rear its ugly head...I reckon Lance was ok on the weekend but if you want to see a guy with no idea in the backline it is Waite not Whittas. Waite got danced around on the boundary line too in the last quarter and we reckon he is athletic. |
