Post subject:  Question re Robert Walls

I have an Ess supporting colleague who was telling me Walls was once reported for biting Ron Andrews.

Can any TCers of Walls' era confirm...I'd never heard anything about it & would love to prove him wrong

cheers

I recall the incident with "Rotten Ronnie" but the biting part doesn't sound right....I remember the report.

Andrews was always getting hit and was always hitting....the way he played.

Walls would have been the kind of profile name we need on the board....

We could do with Wallsy both on and off the ground.

You're kidding me right?

He'd tell his direct opponent that he was so good that he'd come out and kick a bag against us.

What a strong leader would do would be to target guys like Walls, and bring them into the loop, and ideally onto the board. I reckon he woudl be a real asset.

Wallsy made his name as a gun CHF......CHB's don't kick too many "bags" against anyone.

If they awarded retrospective Norm Smith Medals - Walls would be monty for the 72 Grand Final.

No argument there; but Percy Jones was great rucking all day.

No doubt Wallsy is still a Carlton Boy.

Whille he is commentating Carlton games it sounds like he is fustrated with Carltons performances over the past 5 years however he never directly critisises a Carlton player. He loves Waite as a player and it would be a great if he came back to the club!

Did he get a distemper shot?

It sounds like players coming back or being asked to come back and help is a bit of an issue.

The Minister for Sport was on SEN yesterday and when asked about the plight of Carlton eventually said something along the lines that the club hasn't particularly engaged its past players (my interpretation of what he said).

I would have thought a footy club has 3 key assets - current players, past players and supporters.

This club has hundreds of thousands of assets.

A smart footy operator would capatalise on as many as it possibly could.

Yes - you'd think 500,000 supporters would give the club some leverage. (Do we have a database though is the question!)

I'm no direct mail expert, but how much for example would a company pay to have that many people on its books?

If Carlton could get a chunk of money in return for me receiving a few pieces of junk mail every year - well I'm all for it.

I'm sure there are plenty of better ideas out there as well.

Jarusas innovation can help with that regard...

But the club is not interested... because it means J thought something up and they didnt...!!!
