the morning crew on SEN this morning suggested Justin Madden would be a great president for the Carlton football as he has head up the commonwealth games...... I actually thought about it and yeah he has charisma, passion, the smarts knows the political game and well loved i would all in favour for big harry to come onboard

Madden's priority is politics. He is currently trying to move from the upper house to the lower house at the next election. This does not "fit" with even being on the board of a footy club.

Secondly - I actually think he has not doen a very good job managing the games and also think - while being a really nice guy - he is not very smart or business savy. Also, has no experience in the business field and zilch in the important marketing side of things. Only advantage would be his political contacts.

Note his comments a couple of days ago as a solution to the clubs financial woes:

Quote:
"Really you have just got to perform on the field and the rest will happen because you will then get the enthusiasm of the supporters and you will get the financial backers and for my old club to do well (financially), they have got to win games."

Nope - always seen as a bit of a goofball for mine.
We need charisma and talent combined - hell they need me!!

Dont think he was in Steve Bracks top 4 ministers so he must be one of the 16 duds..I think his comments about the club indicated he wasnt that interested and as Mikkey said will continue a career in politics where Labour are on a roll in Victoria and he can look forward to another term in office and some healthy supernannution at the end of it....
I agree with Mikkey..dont think he has what we need in terms of skills required...we need doing men rather than yes men....

Perhaps he could bankroll the club by building Parkville Gardens Mk2 (aka Bruswick Springs) in Princes Park...?
