ANTHONY Koutoufides' manager has demanded Carlton stop complaining about its contract with his client.

In response to another jibe by Blues president Ian Collins about the deal, David Allison said it was time the club recognised it benefited most from the arrangement.

"They constantly talk about this being a bad thing for them, well, if it's that bad, let's tear it up," Allison said.

"Let's screw it up and start again and let's make sure Anthony is given all the money that he generates for the club and all the money that goes to the marketing department because of him.

"I can tell you if they did that, he would be earning more than he does now. That is a fact. A cold, hard fact.

"You take away the income that Kouta generates for that club . . . they are the ones who are well in front on the deal."

"If you were to amortise (write off) it over the period he has played the game, work out what he has been paid per year, over all the years, they would be in front," Allison said.

"If you look at it from the time he started (1992), and look at the return he has given the club, for Christ's sake, why do they carry on? Where would they have been without him the past two years?"

I think half the players running around today should donate their match payments to Kouta as if it wasn't for Kouta most of these blokes would be running a redish colored tracks trying to scrap enough money together to get to Melbourne next week.

Dirty Dave couldn't find a Marketing Contract for Kouta when he was at the height of his powers, he is hardly likely to be able to find one for him now.

Dave Allison is nothing more than a lightweight leech no one takes him seriously - the media only quote him because they delight in the extra misery this brings to Carlton Supporters.

I think Kouta deserves all he can get. Footy is a business now. If he can get 1 million for the next season then good luck to him. Players get screwed by clubs so often these days and nobody says a word, nice to see a faithful servant of the club getting renumeration for his efforts. If we can recruit Mick Martin and get him over the line for his 300th then we can certainly throw some lucre Kouta's way. He has been the face of Carlton for so long now... Mind you I don't really think that he suits our brand but that is another issue. I say goodluck to the guy

Fancy having to keep Kouta another year just so we can pay him out.... Kouta = major sponsor and an albatross around the clubs neck. The Game like i said, it will be easier to come to an agreement with Pagan than Kouta.

I think there are more players screwing clubs than the other way around, but Kouta signed the contract in good faith, he's taken pay cuts, its only one more year left, let it be. Collins should drop it now. His contract negotiation at the end of this season will be interesting.

SB perhaps Kouta could buy each of the kids a new pair of boots or three for all the running they do covering the blokes he can no longer chase. Kouta's money is so high because JE and the rest were terrified he would walk. Shame for all he didn't. he might never have done his knee and gone on to become one of the all time greats. David Allison is a C#$T!!! of the first order. He really is a poor Player Manager - he cant get his players Marketing Contracts. Most good players dont use his services - he hangs around like a bad smell as a remnant from the JE era where he could negotiate over the odds contracts and lived of his fat commission. The stable of players he generated from those days weren't the sort of players who were going to get Marketing Contracts promotiong "Powerade".

Thats all well and good but Kouta has single handedly changed football for ever . He was the the first of the Athlettes to turn out to be a good player when he took the game by throat in the mid to late 90's - recruiters stopped looking for footballers and headed for the running tracks . Kouts is the reason why guys like Prendagast- Bannister the Irish boys theat williams bloke who went top ten in the draft and cant kick. Because of Kouta coaches and recruiting managers have devalued the skills it takes to play our game. It is why Eddie Betts a natural skillful footballer gets overlooked in the draft . Half these 194 cm + players with shit skills that pass beep test and jump test owe their income to Kouta

As many of you like to point out Collo is not a marketing man; he's a manager / administrator who focuses on numbers. From a financial point of view, all Collins has said is that all of the old big (horrible) contracts are at an end bar one, the Koutoufides one. This is fact, financial fact. I don't think Collins was seeking to re-open the issue at all, just stating a fact in his press release and in an annual report, which should be based on fact. The only one who has blown this up is Allison. Absolute clown. FWIW, Kouta is entitled to it because we signe dhim up to it. Not his fault. "Dealers mistake" pure & simple. The sooner the contract ends the better.
