Report in today's Herald Sun about Greg Lee's ambition to be Blue's President.

He hopes to unseat Chris Pavlou initially from the Board in the Election which closes March 24 with results posted at the AGM on March 27.

From what i understand Lee will be a great aquaisition to this club.
Chris Pavlou is the one most vulnerable and looks like he is on real shaky ground...
I hope there is more than one change though.

Have I missed the post with the details of Lee's business background - I got the stuff about his work with the social club etc.

If he wants my vote he'd better 'fess up.

Greg Lee runs a National Recruiting and labour hire business....Octopus Staffing and Recruitment.

He is regarded as a future Carlton President; should he gain a seat on the Board.

His ideas and thinking certainly sound fresh at least.

Sounds great.

Anything resembling a succession plan has to be welcomed. Those close to the Club - are Collins / Lee buddies?

Te board has confidence that if Lee is chosen he would be a good get.

Plus he says all the right things about how were confused by where this club has been heading.

Yeah....the Fevola thing strikes a nerve doesn't it?

Refreshing to hear someone other than Collo/Denis/Malouf.

Got Lee's info in the mail today. Been sent to all voting members apparently. Interesting comments on the back.

What Carlton people have to say about Greg Lee and his work for the club.

Greg is a natural Leader, and a football club cannot have too many of those. In my time working with Greg he has re-ignited my passion for the club, and I believe with his style, ideas and communication ability he can assist Ian Collins, the board and the administration to fastrack their re-building plans.
Geoff Southby

Greg Lee is a dedicated and loyal Carlton devotee, who has already proven his worth to the Club in several ways, such as his involvement in the Carlton Heroes Project and the establishment of the Carlton Football Club Foundation. I have no doubt his marketing skills and business prowess will be invaluable to the Club. I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically support Greg’s quest for a seat on the Board and urge all Carlton voting members to do the same!
Vince Loccisano - Carltonians President

In working with Greg, it is obvious that he has the ingredients required to successfully build meaningful relationships with you the members. In representing all stake holders of the club I’m certain Greg will influence others, be inspirational, and understand the requirements of this important role.
Colin Kinnear

Greg is a long standing Carlton person who understands our proud history and our culture of success. Greg has demonstrated high level business skills and will be invaluable on our board to assist with marketing and communications. I love the blues and he will get my vote.
Sharelle McMahon
Captain- Australian Netball Team

As a sponsor and coterie member for over 20 years, I can say I have been blessed to see some of the great times of our club. Ian Collins and his board have done a fantastic job since coming to power and righting a sinking ship but I believe it is now time to start adding a new group of off field leaders to take the club into its next phase of growth and success. Greg Lee’s experience in fund raising for the club and his undoubted business and marketing expertise makes him exactly the type of person we need playing a major role in the future of the club. He will get my vote.
Bob Moore
Past President – Carltonians

He seems to be making the right noises about selling the dream, the future, etc.

Now, any other candidates standing - any bios?

Sorry, meant to ask, is he running for el presidente or is he just going for a board posi?

Is he putting a ticket together to unseat Collins or just to get a vote of the incumbent board and any new board members to become President?

ie is he going the overthrow or the managed succession?

Not AFAIK - just running for a Board position - so it is not an "overthrow move".

Not sure that buddies is teh right word, but they get on well. Collo chairs the foundation sub-committee that Lee (as the origonator of the idea) also sits on. I believe privately Collo has been supportive of Lee running.

You wouldn't go for Pres on day one, but if he gets in and the remainder of the Board is OK with it a publicly mentioned succession plan would be gold for the Club.

One (small perhaps) benefit we currently have is stability at the senior posts. Imagine if there were 2 tickets in a full Board sweep and one wanted to sack the Coach, or seomthing like that; well, the Club doesn't have that. We can have an orderly move into a new phase of the Board, with a renewed public face, and a succession plan there for Collo to retire in a defined time period.

Could be very good for us.

No sign yet of a revolution, which is a really good thing. It is one of those things that when you get a bloody revolution, you tend to get a new administration that has many hallmarks of the deposed one, even if they sound different. Czar Nikolai II was eventually succeeded by "Czar" Josef Stalin - the names had changed, but so much was the same (or worse).
A peaceful change tends to allow real changes and evolution. This could be the first step. [But then again, we tend to go for the bloody regime change. I am just glad we don't have a Tarpian Rock nearby. I don't want our former presidents doing the waterless high dive, whether they deserve it or not. It didn't help the Romans very much, even if their deposed Emperors managed a 3.2 degree of difficulty dive.]

Has this guy been reading TC?

These are the same issues many of us have hammered home the last few months.
I dont know Greg Lee but I like the way he thinks. The members, sponsors and corporates will stick fat if the message is consistent, concise and POSITIVE
