Wilson,Connolly,Niall,Walls,Watson and Reilly have all tipped the Blues to finish last. That means they think we wont get any better or we will but other teams will get better as well. What a pack of near sighted wankers who are paid to analyise the game.Five out of the six(Caro being the exception) tip the Hawks to finish one above us.Caro has the Hawks finishing 14 th. All tip Saints in top 2.Do these so called experts look at how the lists have changed or what might happen or just gaze at last years ladder. Mark my words fellow Blues supporters, we will finish a lot closer to the saints than the so called experts think. |

Keogh my heart agrees with you but my head doesnt. We all know that strange things happen in a footy season .we cant bank on that. What i would like to see happening on the field is that we dont get thrashed , the players enjoy their footy and not disgracing our jumper. |

I predict us to finish no higher than 14th. Yes we are starting to get quality players to the club but they are still years away from making us competitive. |

I don't honestly see who the experts could tip to finish below us. They can only go on what's in front of them, and we in our own bias can see the weaknesses of our list. Besides... its a prediction. Time to lighten up. If we prove them wrong then all well and good. |

I think they're right. But that doesn't mean I won't be heading off to watch the boys every week. |

It's funny I actually think were underrated. Hawthorn, Collingwood Essendon* and Richmond lists (like ours) depend on the senior group playing well and staying on the park. I can't see the Dogs emulating their second half 2005 efforts, once coaches work out there style of play. I think we could surprise some teams, especially if our forwards Fev, Fish and Waitey all fire. We desperately need either a Simpson, Bentick, Scotland to assist in the middle with Kouta, Stevens and Murph. I won't cancel holidays in September but like our money problems I think everyone in the media is hoping were sooo bad. Last year the same folks had us in the eight and the Hawks for the spoon. It's a long season and this time last year we won a premiership, would be so enjoyable to watch the "pathetic Blues" scare a few sides, a few cats fans at TD a couple of weeks ago weren't to sure of how bad we were, early in the last quarter. ![]() |

Carna Baby Blues!!!! 3 years away.. and then when there... As the Dom said.. what you want is to see kids making positive steps this year.. the ladder is irrelevant to us!! |

It's funny you mention this Keogh, Caro went out on a huge limb for us last year and tipped us to make the finals, all the other bastards thought we would finish pretty low but Caro had us making the finals. Now she has gone back to 'safe' predictions....I think they are pretty close anyway 16th or 15th most likely for us....Experts or not it is all just guess work. |

Of course it's better toi win games but i'll be happy if we win 6-8 games and see some real positive signs from the kids. Marc Murphy is looking a real prospect, can't wait till he really starts to fire up!! ![]() But that could be a couple of yeaars away! ![]() |

The right thing to do when selecting the Carlton team is to pick the best team we can to win the game. That's the way we may just stick it up the 'so called Age experts' if we think they are wrong with their selections. The Age writers only give us their opinion, as they were burnt by selecting Carlton for the eight last year, but thank god it's only an opinion and not a fact. My opinion is that Carlton has a growing list of youngsters who on their day will surprise, as will Carlton, and 10 wins may happen. By youngsters I am talking about those in their 3rd, 4th and 5th year on the Carlton list. I have no expectations of this year's choices, but if Murphy takes big steps then that's a bonus. If Russell and Hartlett are ready and earn their spot....come on down. I want Carlton players selected in the First 22 that have earned their spot...because they show better form than those they replace in the team. Pick to win! There's no point in dropping players to just make room for kids...and I think we have enough talent to win games. Whether we do or not will depend on the efforts of each and every player on the field. We are only as good as our weakest link in a team game, so everyone must put in till they drop; week in week out. The only reason we have got used to the young kids on the field, is because in 2002 we had 16 seniors injured at one stage, the only 'kid' to miss selection that year was Waite, plus retirements. As a result I read that some TC preferences is to pick all the kids for the experience. If Carlton does put all the kids on the field and drop more match hardened bodies then I'm afraid that they will get hurt, mentally and physically....and I'll be crying out Blue Murder. I have high expectations of Thornton, Waite, Fisher, Carazzo, Simpson, Bentick, DeLuca, O'hAlpin and Walker stepping up this year...and the pressure is on this year for Prenders, Livingston, Scotland, McGrath, McLaren Bannister and Teague to show they can compete on the big stage against all opposition and as for Davies, Sporn, Wiggins, Chambers and Longmuir, the pressure is on them to prove they are worthy of retention. There's enough incentive there for improvement from 16th position. I hope the boys show the Age experts that they haven't taken the time to do their sums in a professional manner. THE EMPIRE WILL STRIKE BACK!! |

Well I can't really speak on the Dons and the Tiges, but I keep a pretty good eye on the Hawks cause they're my best mates club. They may be the darlings of the media, but to be honest, I can't see where the Hawks' improvement is going to come from this year. They won half a game more than us last season and we split the points in the two games where we played them. Since then they lost a fullback in Hay, and we of all clubs know how hard FBs are to replace. They added five kids. Two, Beau Dowler and Beau Muston, are on the long term injury list and will be lucky to play more than a couple of games this season. And I'm told the club has decided Ellis is too skinny to play seniors in his first year (as is, presumably, the 205cm Bailey). That only really leaves Birchall to come in and make an impact. Roughead seems like the sort of player who will only get better, but there's fair chance that some of the rest of the Franklin, Miller, Lewis are going to have to deal with 2nd year blues. We on the other hand have Murphy who looks he's going to be plug and play, Kennedy who'll probably come in and play, Setanta for an extra forard option, Walker who's physically stronger and (allegedly a better kick), an extra rucking option in Mclaren, a extra defensive option in Saddington, Hartlett and Russell who are 2nd year players who will both have their effective debuts. And if pre-season form can be an sort of guide, Simmo and Bentick who were shinning lights towards the end of the debacale that was last season seem to be kicking on this year. Now obviously some of those aren't going to work out, and its going to take a while to find the right balance, but overall i think we've plainly got more scope for improvement than the Hawks this season. I'm not saying we're going to be a top eight side or anything, but injuries pendings I doubt we'll be backing up for another spoon despite what the critics say. |

The original post states that Carlton will finish closer to StKilda than the Age flower think. This shows how consevative these guys are.Do they actually think outside the square or compelled to mainstream And what makes them think that the Saints are top 2 material. For heavens sake they were just about done and dusted until special K turned around a shit season against the Bulldogs.Up to that game they were going nowhere fast.It looks like money bags Hamill will be a week by week proposition with his sore baby cow syndrome. The blues according to some on this site are a chance to win 7 to 10 games and i reckon thats on the money What I am saying is that the journos dont think about their predictions that much in depth and just look at last years results which I dont think is flower good enough even though the Age only cost me $2 . What do people think of the Saints in 2006.Me thinks they will go downhill. |
