Quote: …Carlton supporters can rest assured that the Carlton Football Club, your Club, is moving in the right direction, with processes in place to return the Club back to where it belongs on and off the field in the coming years. A young talented football team with additional coaching support to improve and fast track development combined with an off-field business plan to support all areas of the Club and membership is an important part of this plan. Every Carlton supporter has an important role to play in the future of the Carlton Football Club, your involvement through membership.
Good to see the club talking itself up for a change. So, what are you waiting for … get out there and buy your membership! |

At least it seems like you've hired a Marketing Trainee. It's the proverbial gathering storm. |

The second half of this article is absolutely amazing. Perhaps responding to the critisism of Greg Lee, the statements are beyond belief. 2 Possibilities Possibility 1. We are performing completely on track hitting our sponsorship targets, our P&L targets and our balance sheet targets. Seems to be a laughable notion, but when you mark your own test results anything is possible. In this case we have perhaps the two worst media performers in the history of this club, who are able to turn a sensationally positive story into disaster headlines. Possibility 2 They are not telling the truth. Which is it? And again - why such a feeble defence so late, burried in the second half of a story. Where was the club on the front foot the day after the stories ran. Where was Collo on the radio, in print telling us all that we have met our KPIs, that we are on track. Also interesting that they are prepared to respond to Lee (ie try to ensure they kep their roles), but let the media walk all over us. By all means kep Collo as a back room boy, but get rid of this man from any contact with the media now!!!!!!!!!! To be balanced - at least we are hearing something positive. And the plea is right: BUY YOUR MEMBERSHIP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Quote: …Off-field, the club also has a plan. 2005 was year one of the Club’s three year business plan, the goals for 2005 were all met as the Club strives to be in a cash neutral position by the end of 2007.
What a load of garabge - I want to see a plan on how the club intends to sell itself. This is similar to the rubbish that we heard from last years review that the coaching department was doing a good job...please!!! |

Looks like it has been written by Ian Coutts. We should step out on the front foot more often Ian. The media expect us to lay down "and take our medicine of humbleness". Well it aint going to happen - Memo to all at the Carlton Football Club, please keep sending this message out to everyone: - Media - Members - Football Supporters Long, Loud and Often. |

Part of being succesful is being perceived to be succesful and know what youre doing. If you cant look like you know what youre doing... and youre not succeful .. noone will believe in you. Perception is everything!!! the perception in us is we dont have a clue...!!!.. theyre not doing anything to make us feel like they do have the answers.... They better start selling themselves in a positive light to us, sponsors and the public... !! |

damned if you do damned if you don't. At the end of last year i was happy, good recruitment and i had a sense of the right track. I expected no more than 6 wins but I expected to see some glimmers. @#$%&! that now I just want to stick it up our own collective downbeat arses! i want the flag!!!!! ![]() Or would we find other reasons? |

They remembered there is an AGM in just over a weeks time! ![]() Just a bit of political spin but good on the club for getting on the front foot. A bit late but that's OK. In an ideal world, a few early season wins would be just the tonic to stimulate some positivity around the club. The domino effect would be profound I believe in other areas. Like I said, in an ideal world... |

seriously folks some of you lot are nothing but a bunch of whingers. you are pathetic. the article is a good one - who cares about the motivation or the timing. Lets at least ackowledge it is the right sort of message. you can go on about change as much as you like (and no doubt things have to happen). but give credit where credit is due and come down from your 50,000 foot joy ride. personnel working for the CFC have got a very tough gig. |

It's funny y'know, we can tend to be a fickle lot. I reckon if the club used our forum as a sounding board for opinions and criticisms most at the club would have jumped of the West Gate by now! ![]() |

Carlton Communications had always intended to be more vocal this year -I understood that each of Ian Coutts and Stephen Wilson, his offsider, were going to put up articles under their own name, talking about CLub direction etc. Perhaps this was intended to start with the season but the last few week's heavy press load has brought it out earlier? As for the 6 day wait, well, they tend to be hard to get in there. For the Contributors it gets a little frustrating but finally CC is putting out some commentary. I'd prefer it to be abit more front-foot and less 'blame the media' but I am not a marketing person, maybe this sort of response appeals to your common fan a little more? Anyway I am happy they are at least starting to do this and I hope it continues. |

nice one Tommi - remember the days when you could mark down 6 goals for a 3rd quarter.... the club "met" its "goals" last year because of us - membership income went from $3m in 2004 to $4.5m in 2005 - take a bow CFC members! However if a goal of the club is to make a minor profit, while an associated entity makes a whopping loss then ![]() |
