Blues must balance their team pick on form and development.

Sporn has shown form in the last couple of weeks, with good hands and pace in the middle.

Teague doesn't need development. He seems to do a job though albeit negative.

I'm happy that we are leaning to pace rather than purely negating.

Spread your wings boys, we have a game on tomorrow.

Sporn's form at VFL level has been good. But he'll need to show it at AFL level now or he could be gorn.

To be honest, of the three that we took in 2001 i think that Sporn is the most likely to come good if he can stay fit...Livo will have good weeks and bad weeks and as much as i will stand by him i think he will be in trouble come the end of the year...In saying that i think all 3 of Livo, Wiggins and Sporn will be gone but i haven't given up hope just yet...

to be fair to livo his job will depend at times on how accountable our midfield is, same as thornton.

personally im itching to see saddo in the team, but we'll have to wait to see how he goes at vfl level

Glad to see Sporn in the side.

I think this has been his best pre-season for him on a while and now has a fair bit of size and pace aswell, plus has also shown some really good form in the Ants.

IMO, Sporn has showed he can play at AFL level. He just needs a bit of luck with not getting hurt.

geez, Teague must feel like a down right retard to be beaten into the team by Sporn.

i reckon Fev is going to have a big one tomorrow because he is playing on carroll who is 10kg lighter than Fev so i doubt he will match him in strength and i dont think he would match his speed, so i think Fev could have a big one tomorrow but i wouldnt under estimate carroll. What do you guys think?

Carroll hasn't done badly on Fev previously, and Melbourne are quietly confident that they have a good match up here. But they don't really have a backup plan this time. Previously, they would have been able to switch Bizzell onto him. Bizzell isn't going to be there, and they are already stretched for tall defenders.

The other interesting thing is whether the new interpretations regarding spoiling will assist Fev. If the frees paid to Lloyd are any indication (and they do seem to be a continuation of the umpiring in previous games), Fev might receive a fair few frees this year because of desperation attempts to spoil him. As long as he can pull his head in, that is, so he doesn't alienate the umpires.

A 100 goal year shouldn't be beyond him

What is this crap about Carroll playing well on Fev? WHEN? 2001???

Carroll didn't even play against us last year. I dinstinctly remember him looking to be on the scrap heap the last two seasons.

Looking at stats now. Carroll has played 17 games in 3 seasons (he's 25). One against us in 2004. That one where they smashed us across the park.

Carroll is a dud and as soon as they can afford to bin him and Nicholson, they will. It's a modern miracle they've survived this long. This is what you get for not biting the bullet and spending some early picks on what you need, even if you are losing out a little on quality.

Thanks Woosha!

It's similar to the match when we dropped Livo for the Dogs game in Darwin because there wasn't a appropriate match up.

Which one of the quick Demons flankers/mids would Teague pick up? :?

Sporn's skills are about the same leve or above Teague's, he's quicker and his height does offer versatility against one of their medium players. With Bower, Russell, Edwards, etc. coming through the ranks the end is nigh for someone as brave as David Teague.
