Didn't rate it at the time but our last up win over the Bulldogs looks ok now in light of how they demolished the Tiges.

What I took out of the match in Lavington was that we got numbers back quicker than the Tigers were able to tonight. The Dogs just ran em around tonight but with us we really backed eachother up and ran really hard. Without the injection of some real talent we prolly won't be able to keep it up all season though....We will still get thumped..I think it is on the cards.

If we beat that it shows me we can play to position, but I doubt we beat that.

Nor do I think that game plan will last long. Blood some talls Rocket, or you're going to get done in and made a fool of.

Still until Sunday arvo we only have our pre-season form to go by and well, it has to be said, we beat the only two teams to win in the season proper :-)

Look I know that pre-season form counts for Sweet FA, but still fun to let your imagination run free every now and then...

Go blueboys

Let's just say if we end up on the bottom of the ladder after this round we are in BIG BIG BIG trouble.....

It was nice of the tiges to take the mantle of wooden spoon favourites off us before we've even stepped on the park this season.

We've been pretty bad in the last four years. But we've never been that bad in a round 1 game.

We should send them a case of beer or something.

The one thing that i have noticed so far this season (all 2 games of it) is that players are absolutely spent with about 5 minutes to go each quarter due to the new kick-in rules speeding the game up...

Against a team like Melbourne, i feel this will work to our advantage as they have players like Bruce and Moloney who are underdone and probably wont be able to run out each quarter...Bruce in particular can be very damaging in the last part of a quarter as we have seen in the past...We were one of the worst teams in red time last year...I am wondering if that may have been on Pagan's mind during the pre-season when he was running a lot of sessions just based on fitness (or so the training reports said)...

If you look at the two teams that have won so far, they are both running teams that are able to rotate their midfields frequently (are you listening to this Denis??)...We have running players in the form of Houla, Simpson, Walker, Scotland, Stevens, Betts and Carrazzo who are all capable of playinga running midfield role...My point..If we rotate our midfield and if we can run out the game better than the Dees then we will win...

The AFL may have curbed flooding a bit but they've dicked talls and burst athletes in the process. Guess we won't see players dominating the whole game anymore.

Didn't the Bulldogs and Richmond play each other in a practice match?

Cox done alright though?!

Cox had a 13 possession first quarter and 13 hitouts to half time. He went back into a pretty cruisey mode after the first half. Started dropping back a lot more.

Players are going to burst in and out of games now, and burst athletes are going to be stuffed too early in the game because there'll be too much work to cover a kick in.

I think you'll see sides intentionally infringing on the kick out and then forcing the recipient to fetch the ball so their team can man up or create their zones and actually generate some defensive pressure in the midfield.

The AFL are either going to have to take this rule back or seriously expand the bench. I can't think of a game that requires so much endurance and athletiscism all rolled into one.

Tonight Fletcher scooped up a rebound of the post, turned around already standing in the goal square and punted the ball 70 m. How the hell are you supposed to combat that??

The rule doesn't curb forward packs, it obliterates them. You cannot form a large pack in your forward line without running the risk of the ball sailing over your head if the opposition rush it.

You'll now see forwards sitting outside the forward line to ensure there isn't a full rebound.

Well done to the boys at the AFL you [REDACTED] the game up good.
