I think that this week the addition of Jordan Russell to the team would be great. I loved watching him play throughout the preseason and i think he'd be a great addition to the team. To me he has a bit of that Chris Judd flair and i cant wait to see him play a full game.....

I can't wait to see him do something to deserve a game... his obvious replacement would be Sporn, maybe Saddo or Santy in for Fisher, DeLuca might get the chop so both can come in.

Not sure if this will be the week...We have always been very short against Freo, we will want to keep some height (and stability) in the side...

Fisher - OUT
Setanta - IN

Would love for JR to play, but I doubt he will get the call up.

guessing that JR (unles he dominates) will not be on Pagan's radar until next year - Pagan wants them to be strong and JR needs at least another year bulking up. It can't be rushed and I think Denis is prepared to wait unless they demand otherwise eg. Fisher, Murph or Tex.

Anyone would be better than Sporn - he's hopeless

Harsh call.
The guy is alright. He is one of the few in our list with poise and skill.
I just wish Pagan would free him up - let him run on the wing

agreed. quite a harsh call....when he's fit and in form he is a good player....how many players in the AFL can claim they have tagged james hird and kept him to under 10 possessions........sporn can, on more than one occassion. hopeless?

Needs to be given an attacking role.

Only then will we be able to make a fair call on his efforts.

Thought he was alright on Sunday night.

I agree with the logic of playing an extra runner to cope with the wide open spaces we'll be confronted with at Subiaco.

I would love to see JR get a game, but I don't think they'll go with him just yet. If the emergencies for Round 1 are an indication, looks like Chambers would be the option if a runner is to be called upon.

Personally I'd make 2 changes:

Fisher - Russell (Chambers more likely)
DeLuca - O'hailpin

chambers knows the ground and has good endurance, Pago isn't going to bring in an unkown quantity like JR when we're coming off a win.

My guess would be chambers in for sporn, hartlett or more likely setanta in for fisher

Sporn needs to go. I think he will struggle to even remain on our list and he is lucky that DP is in love with him otherwise he would be a VFL perm!

I would replace him with either Chambers (and pray that his fumbling improves out of sight  ) or Russell.

You'd hope after a full season and two pre-seasons at the footy club, Russell isn't an unknown quality to the football department.

Russell would be my first choice if they felt he was ready, failing that - Chambers. Maybe Deluca gets dropped to accomodate both Santy and Saddo coming in.

Nah he played well in those games. But if he's good enough to do that, then surely he's good enough to beat some of the gumbies he's lined up on in the past couple of years and got towelled by.

Sporn wanted to go back to Adelaide but know one wanted him unless your talking about Glenelg,Sturt style.

No footballer who makes AFL is hopeless but Sporn's only role in the seniors would be a running tagging role on players devoid of leg speed who arn't strong in the upper body.

Ironically the only time I have seen Sporn play well has been on Hird who fits the guy he can tagged well.

Guys like Sporn who lack pace and strength cannot survive in the Afl unless they have something special and he doesnt have this.

He will be handy if the injuries mount up ,but I cant see him holding down a regular spot.

Unknown in a senior football sense. Yes he played against stkilda, but he got about as much time on the field as the bloke who removed the cat from AAMI stadium in the NAB cup. JR has to dominate a few bullants matches before he earns a spot in the seniors.

  LMAO

Not sure why he had such little time though...JR not the cat guy?....BUT remember Simmo a couple of years ago?

MAybe it's a Debis MO....just expose them , give them a minute here and there. Tell thenm they are doing the right thing. Let's face it , with so many youngsters we do need to develop them without them getting crunched week in and out...

which makes MArc Murphy even more extraordinary

That's exactly what he's doing, what he has been doing and what he'll continue to do.

Denis makes the younger players earn it. Kade has done his apprenticeship and is now starting to repay the faith invested in him. I imagine they are doing the same with Luke Blackwell.

Jordan is no different. He'll get his 5 games this year and then be played a lot more in 2007. Like Kade, I doubt we will really see JR play consistent senior football until 2008.

Could this all be part of why we are supposedly only 3 years into a 5 year sentence??

Don't forget guys that some players respond to the challenge of AFL footy. JR supposedly has the pace and skills to meet the challenge, but is he ready now? What does he weight at the moment? He seemed to go alright against some big bodies vs Port. I reckon he might be worth a crack considering Chambers, Sporn and Wiggins have the fumbles.

Chambers isn't very physical anyway and we need the leg speed - why not give him a run as a receiver just to gather an idea on the tempo required?
