Alpha comes out tomorrow. It might have some bikini action so maybe worth your while SB!
Fevolaaa, we did lose both our 1st and 2nd round picks in 2003 as well. The picks would have been no.4 and no.20 overall. We traded our 3rd round pick (no.35 overall) for Heath Scotland and traded our 4th round pick (no.51 overall) for Brett Johnson and Daniel Harford.
The article falls over by the ridiculous amount of errors contained in it. Football journalism is at an all time low in this city. It is atrocious!!
Because the AFL operates under so much secrecy and without transparency in their conduct we will never know what is really happening behind the scenes. To this day, no-one has ever been made aware of the true nature of our breaches, in monetary or numerical terms. Was it $1,000 or $1M? How did it compare to breaches discovered previously? Were the penalties justified?
When Carlton was investigated the AFL stated at the time that it was in the process of investigating all 16 clubs. Nothing more was heard about it until the scum received a smack with a feather duster for their domain name breaches. The extent was never revealed but it only cost them <$100K in fines.
There was rumours of aints players benefitting from very lucrative property ventures courtesy of party's tied into Mr. Butters and these proceeds not being disclosed under the TPP. Nothing ever heard. There is also the latitude and concessions bestowed on Sydney and Brisbane and who knows how much the AFL decides to ignore violations that might occur up there in the quest for maximum promotional success.
All we know is that we apparently were "systematic salary cap rorters" and doesn't fat bastard love to repeat that ad nauseum! But never any details. Sure there were ulterior motives to the AFL severe handling of our breaches but the penalties were evidence of that. I might only be speculating but given that the entire league was essentially over the TPP through the 90's then it would not be too outrageous to suggest that some very creative schemes might be in place now to remunerate players and have amounts concealed.
