Our greatest asset is not being utilised!!! We were fortunate enough in the mid to late 90s to have a leadership group at the club which was possibly the greatest in the history of the game yet we dont utilise them. Only Kernahan has a role with the club and it seems that even he is under utilised. Players such as Ratten, Silvagni, Bradley, Dean, Madden, Williams, Mitchell, etc.. have all had v.limited time with the club in coaching/mentoring role. According to David Parkin several of our past players have an astute knowledge of the game and have the ability to make significant coaching careers.
We need to bring back these players to the club and we also need to work out why so many have not been involved and remedy the situation. You cant buy experience and it is criminal that we are not utilising this resource.

Doesn't mean they can't instill them with confidence and provide a sounding board to players who play their positions.

I don't think HC is calling on them to lead our club from off the field, I think he's calling on them as mentors, coaches and so forth. They certainly can provide.

I understand that part Jimmy, but too many cooks spoil the broth.Information overload if you know what i mean. Not that i dont think these guys can provide something Jimmy, but ya gotta stand on ya own two feet and make your own way.Forever leaning on others to lead you from the mire.......well,you will be waiting a long time.

For sure but nothing wrong with mentoring younger players, takes a bit of heat off the senior players during the week and they get to lead by example rather than by sitting over their shoulder talking them through it all the time.

A mentoring system could be very good.
