Post subject: | Chris Pavlou on Saturday night |
Was the MC for the game at the Social Club on Saturday night. Talked about not being voted back on to the board, but always being a Carlton man. Felt he is part of the club and always will be. Interviewed Jordan Russell and Adam Hartlett. Talked about the usual football stuff i.e. height, weight, who are you living with etc etc Hartlett told the crowd that he came to the club at 195cm and 88kgs(?) and is now 196cm and 95kgs. Certainly is a big man. Pavlou then went on to talk about the new recruits for the club. You would have thought Murphy's name would be the name he said first, but he didn't. "The ruckman we got from Brisbane...McLaren? Darren McLaren, that's it" Then talked about the new coaches we have. Got Daniher's name right, but then went on to call Dempsey "that bloke from Footscray" Yeah it's only a small incident, but how hard is it to remember a bloke's name who is a fairly big part of our coaching staff? And another bloke who was recruited to the club. Really was poor form. |

That's a bit on the nose. I didn't get there in time for the speech but can imagine it would've been pretty awkward. Apparently after the Port praccy game the announcer introduced Marc Murphy to the crowd as Justin Murphy ![]() ![]() Ballistic were you there? Why didn't you join me for that beer? |

Good bloke.. loves the club but has NO idea... EDIT: That is a bit harsh of me, but sometimes it feels damn close. |

I was there too PJ and I agree with you completely. I know people can sometimes forget names, but he prefaced the whole thing by saying how disappointed he was that he wasn't voted back onto the board. I can appreciate that he has done a lot for the club, but if you're going to get up in front of a crowd of members in the social club, it would be useful to know what you are talking about. |

They should get someone to do it propoerly or not do it at all. Do I sound like my mum? (for those of you who have met her.... ![]() To crap on about him missing out on Directorship is completely inappropriate. To get a players name wrong proves he's a nuffy and shouldnt have been on the Board in the first place. Surely they could have found someone from here even who could interview Russell and Hartlett with proper questions. Were communications in Perth for the game? |

He is, or was, an administrator. He isn't directly involved in the football side of the club so why does it matter that he doesn't have detailed knowledge concerning it? His role, I assume, was to attract sponsors to the club, help improve the clubs financial position and do the various other things that entails AFL club adminstration. He's not the director of football, the president, the coach or the CEO so who really cares? |

Apparently Chris did the whole thing on his own volition without any prodding from caring officials at the club and at short notice. He thought he would give the people attending something else than just to get pissed waiting for the game to start. Give the man some credit. |

Wasn't questioning his intentions on the night at all, Squarey. Just had an issue with how he handled some of the players names. The Dempsey one was the one that stuck out the most. |

It was probably a last minute thing and for that I'd give him a little latitude but if you're selling a product and you don't know exactly what it is you're selling then you're on shaky ground. I also want to believe that the people on the board of my football club are at least as fanatical as I am about the club. I reckon that means (at the very least) knowing the names of the new recruits. What happened to Daniel Harford as CFC MC? |

I think we have mutually worked through the last part of his 2 year "playing" contract. ![]() |
