I had to laugh when I read the e-mail newsletter from the Club this morning: Quote: A reminder the popular Stephen Kernahan Room will return for Carlton Social Club Members in 2006 and once again there will be pre-game, half-time and post game entertainment for members and guests.

Surely the room will be a success if the members make it so? I'm not a Social Club member and I don't care about gathering somewhere for a drink, but if a large section of the SC members get in there, mix with their mates, make new friends, create the atmosphere themselves, then it will be "popular". |

Nice in theory Mrs Caz, but the club has to at least come halfway. Giving bare minimum facilities in an air hangar atmosphere makes it difficult. They need to make the room 'smaller' somehow. Even with big TC personalities in there it leaves a lot to be desired. |

What are you looking for Jars? Does it have TVs, a bar, tables, chairs, viewing area for the game and some snacks? Because that's all the SC at OO provided in terms of match-day facilities. |

I'm very good with theories Jar (especially those of the conspiracy kind ![]() Quote: once again there will be pre-game, half-time and post game entertainment for members and guests.
Isn't that meeting you part of the way there? |

That's the bit that's missing. Not much we could do about it at the time or now though. In a perfect world however, it would be on L2 & you'd be able to to wander between your seats outside and the bar where you could still see the game from behind glass. But as Mrs C says, just got to make the best of what we have there. |

Kinda, but I really meant that it is just as much the responsiblity of the members who use it as it is the club's to make the atmosphere great. Obviously it would help if the team is winning! The last two years haven't been great for generating atmosphere in that respect. But remember when the Wizzo Cup was on? I only went in there a few times, but it felt pretty good then. |

They need to fix the audio for when someone's making a speech, that's one thing. |

Social club members are already doing the right thing by paying an extra $200 to the club to be part of a 'social club'. They should expect more than what the Sticks room has to offer. Currently, compared to being at Princes Park social club members are getting less bang for their buck and they are leaving in droves (the social club lost $1M last year?). It will probably be all wound up soon anyway, it's just not viable the way it is set up at the moment. |

Ok so speakers and game view. Solutions: Projector screen of the camera footage and new speakers. Any questions? |

They get a reserved and far better seat for the same price and they can go to the cougar bar, locker room or one of the many pubs over the foot bridge. |

Maybe that is what the club is trying to do, make Gold memberships relatively more attractive and drive members there. Not an option for me though, because I like to stand at the footy. |

How much soil is there in a hole measuring one metre by one metre by one metre? None - it's a hole. If the room is so big (and I've only seen it in passing) and the view is so bad, an LCD projector or something similar would be fantastic on a wall with a suitable screen on it. What's the issue? |

Main problems: 1) High ceiling - huge room - gives you this feeling of train station 2) You can't see the playing field from the room. 3) Many SC members with reserved seats are on Level 2 and it is a very long walk to get there The Lindsey Hassett room which we have for the few games at the G is so much better. The atmoshere is much more like the room at PP , you can watch the field from the room and the best SC seats (most expensive) are right in front of it. Much more value for money. |
