Well its the school holidays (again) and the usual stuff finds itself at the bottom of the school bag as the contents are emptied over the floor together with bacteria riddled forgotten snacks. But this piece of paper caught my eye - and I apologise in advance for the self indulgence, but it was written by my son Agro Junior, and I noticed an A+ at the bottom of the page. ![]() ![]() MY SPECIAL PLACE My special place is Optus Oval. Just the words remind me of not being able to concentrate at school on Friday afternoon to excited about Saturday, waking up early on Saturday morning playing the match over in my head, thinking about Matty Lappin flying out of the ground or Brendan Fevola booting 8 goals. The smell of freshly mowed grass, the feel of my membership card lanyard bumping against my chest. The walk from the car to the ground, the scenery of the beautiful trees and green grass. Then you turn a corner and you see it, the beautiful old-fashioned high brick walls, the word ‘OPTUS OVAL’ shining in the sunlight, little kids clutching there dads hands as they walk through the turnstiles, 100 footies being kicked all at once, people yelling “Carn The Blues†|

That's brilliant Agro. Gave me goosebumps!! I remember all of those feelings as a child going to then Princes Park to watch the Blues play & train. It's a shame the kids today will not get to experience the excitement & emotion of Princes Park, Optus Oval, MC Labour Park.. |

That's beautiful Agro. It really strikes a chord for all of us that have spent our childhoods at Princes Park. |

Great piece. What year is he in? You've obviously taught him well. It is a great shame that no more kids will have that feeling - The feeling of 'coming home' to Princes Park. It really was a unique place. |

It was a wonderful read... and to all those who chose to turn this thread into a spitefest against each other...and start other threads (all since been relocated to the Mods forum)... GET A LIFE! No warnings have been given at this time due to the fact that we all have other important things to do during this time. The mods will discuss this after Easter. Now @#$%&! behave like adults. |
