DeLuca offers something we dont have. A tall target in the forward line.
He isnt a great mark but he always gives a contest. When did you last see him outmarked?

The advantage is that if players are under pressure, we have a tall that the ball can go to and the crumbers can work off him.

I swear anyone would think you're a bunch of Richmond supporters! Sure, he aint the best player out their and i bet he will even admit he has played shitfull recently....but jesus christ give the guy a break. He will never be a superstar and pagan and the club know that. But it is round 3 and people already want him delisted. The blueboys have had a decent start to the season so lets stay positive and not call for players to be delisted once they have a couple of bad games. Look at Fevola...he used to be the biggest dud around then all of a sudden he fired up and has become what he is today.

As much as i agree we shouldn't be bagging our players, you also have to look at the fact that this is their job! THey are getting paid to play football. And in any job if you're no good you get fired. THe fact of the matter is Deluca is no good. He cant read the play and is not a ruckman nor a CHF. Hes tried hard and maybe this is as good as he can play, therefore we cant ask more of him but geez i really doubt he'd make to many other sides starting line up. We need to keep blooding the youth and as soon as Setanta is 100% and Kennedy is 100% i would definetly much rather see them donning the Navy BLue jumper to big Deluca. MB

I was always under the impression that DeLuca could play the CHF role because he does present well, and has the advantage of being spotted from a distance because of his lighthouse appearance, and does run into space, albeit towards the flanks, but it was his inability to be a one grab player that generates the negativity towards him. He did show some good signs that this (one grab capability) has improved on Saturday. IMP. Too early to call.

Had a good game last week, presented, chased, took marks , only thing that let him down was a bad kick in the forward line. He should retain his spot going by his last match.

The guy is still relatively inexperienced, but is improving. I thought his game on Saturday night was OK. He did make a couple of mistakes, but he wasn't Robinson Crusoe in that respect.

I know he isnt one of our best players but dont turn on them after round 3 and call for them to be delisted or hope they get injured. That's what Richmond supporters do when Richo has a bad game You never know Deluca may read some of the comments on this site as well as other players...what would they think of their supporters if they saw the shit you have been saying.

I also thought de luca played well in the first half. If the gloves give him the confidence to take one grab marks (which he did this week) then I don't see a problem with it.

I am yet to be convinced that DeLuca has anything to offer us long term. He is a below average mark, is slow and his recovery after a spilled mark (which is crucial for him) is poor. He has shown nothing other then 10 minute cameos. Over 3 years of senior football, I would expect at least one game where DeLuca is a 4 quarter performer. It has yet to happen. He costs more then he creates

Does he get a kit kat with the break? Deluca is actually doing Ok IMO this season. Will be needed against the Hawks this week, hopefully taking marks closer to goal scoring distance than the wing. The great debate would have to be whether the dukes of Deluca or Lynch are better.

Why can't we bag him? The club pays him about $100K and he can't bloody catch the ball, he is wasting the club's money.

Creating a contest is well and good but occassionally, just occasionally you need a tall forward who can actually cap off good play with a mark and goal, rather then a contest where the opposition clear the ball with ease. The impotant thing is what happens to the ball when the players kick to Deluca. More often then not, it rebounds quicker then a rocket

13 possessions, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 2 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 4 x 1%ers, I'd suggest Adrian had a good game Buzz. His role is to be the link for the rebounding defenders and stay out of Fevs space. His marking was very good and as I asked, when did you last see him outmarked? As for the ground ball, thats a structural problem or ineffective crumbing.

At the moment, we don't have the crumbers presenting at the fall of the ball, so when a mark is spoiled or spilled, it rebounds in the oppositions arms far too often. Archie did well on Saturday night. 6 one-grabbers. Presented well. If he im proves at this rate, he'll be a superstar by year's end. OK, maybe that's a bit hopeful, but in a fairly good team effort, I like what I saw in him on Sat against the Swans.
