Carlton are already playing 4-5 games per season interstate.

What's the problem with selling a match interstate and travelling "Away" less? It adds up to the same thing. There have been so many comments about Carlton needing to get on the front foot and promote the Club interstate, yet when it's mooted, all you can hear is the wailing and complaining from Melbourne supporters.

If we want Carlton to grow into a truly national "brand", things like this need to be considered and debated rationally.

for what its worth i dont have any issue with it, aslong as we play less interstate games.

i.e. we play west coast, sydney, adelaide one year, and sell three home games to canberra as an example.

then the following year we play freo, brisbane, port and three home games to canberra

but not if it means we play 5 interstate teams then a further 3 home games away

would think that is a great idea, and if it can guarantee us 1.5 mill for the 3 games a year im all for it.

also, membership prices needs to be reduced due to having less games in melbourne

aslo, the club needs to ensure that the games will be on free to air tv ensuring we get further coverage and better sponsorship for it

I to am concerned with Smorgan taking over the reigns. A little whisper i heard is that Collo approached the recovery mission with a policy of a no quick fix which the current board members have grown tired of. My concern is that now Collo has gone we could see the club go cap in hand to the AFL, selling home games and the one that scares me the most is recruiting for short term gain onfield.

In Collo's last speech as president he basically pleaded to Dennis to continue with the youth policy and dont bend over for no one?

Is it more likely than not that he will be a stand in president and behind the scenes maybe a new ticket being formed names like Grollo, Fahour and Fitzpatrick been thrown around.

The feeling is we will become a North .. where all we attempt to do is make ourselves competitive so we stem the tide.
This person does not understand footyclubs are about emotion and the product on the field and winning premierships is all people want to see.. not us being tenth but we win one lose one win one lose one...

for the first time in a few years, our football club is finally heading in the right direction.

let it happen off field, becuase if we continue to go as we are currently on-field, the off field stuff will sort itself out.

What is abit of a pointer to the footy side of things is since this board has taken over Williams , Silvagni, Hunter, Swan and Collo have all resigned.
All ex footballers and all ex premiership players leaving only Sticks .

So the footballers obviously see something they dont like... and there is very little input from footballers on this board at the moment.

No footballers and a beancounter means trouble.

Sure they have made mistakes but unlike Jack they havent been trading away early picks.

Unfortunately trying to do a North 2 years ago cost us and sent us back..

But we should be ok in three years if we dont attempt to top up to be competive quicker.

ahh, you see, im a positive supporter.

for me the last three weeks have been great to watch.

round 1 - it was the likes of livo, t-bird (who is coming back into some form) waite, simpson, murphy with good games from fev and scotland that got us over the line against a team no one gave as a chance against.

round 2 - it was the likes of houlihan, bentick, walker, fev that got us near the line in a game that in previous years we would have got flogged

round 3 - it was the likes of bentick, murphy, fev, mcclaren that got us near the line in game, like against freo would have seen us on the end of 7 or 8 goal flogging.

that is extremelly positive for me. its not the usual lappin, french, whitnall (has played well in all 3 round though) that are getting us there, it is the kids, actually not going to call them kids anymore, it is the Young Men that are getting us there.

we have only just lost the last two weeks, and could have possibly be sitting 3 - 0 if it was not for our bad first quarters and some shit full decisions by the umpire, both against freo (i figured 4 goals came from bad decisions) and against sydney (i figured 2 goals came from bad decisions)

combine all that, with the fact, it is the kids that are getting us close to the line is very very promising for me and a very positive direction, we as a club are taking.

make no mistake, this year, and maybe half of next year will be about "honorable" loses, then we make the next transition of winning those "tight games"

ive always liked some of our kids and thought we where no where near as bad as some would like to believe, it will jsut take time for the kids to mature into men.

im pretty positive about it all, if we where to lose every game for the rest of year, but play like we have in the first three rounds, and continue to develop and blood our "young men" i would be one very happy carlton supporter.
