Post subject:  Impressions after 4 years away

After spending the last 4 years living out of Oz, i had my first chance to see a game live. And despite the wealth of materials here in TC, the AFL site and delayed video recordings watching a game was mind blowing.

I have a couple of very simple observations re-my visit to TD vs the Swans.

We are progressing in the right direction.
1. Lance is playing like a leader - and despite one let down in the last qtr had the best of Barry Hall. Great effort and very pleasing.
2. We are very much quicker than we were 3-4 years ago. Simmo, Murph, Eddie in the middle and Carrots add a completley new sparkle.
3. Fevola looks like and behaves like a footballer.
4. The backline is not as bad as i would have thought. Walker looks the goods and Saddington will be a good addition.

The Game?
1. the afl game of today is very different too watch i.e its like bloody basketball! Maybe i am a little old fashioned but it has definitely lost something. Were it not my love of the blues....well i'd stick to golf.

I then took the opportunity a couple of days later to drive down memory lane to PP.

My impressions of the club?
1. got down to PP for a look and to buy everyone one of my nephews a membership (12 of them....phew). I must say though that the membership dept looks like a shambles and simply unprofessional in its appearance of the highest order. Cash strapped or not you shopuld not have your front of house office looking like a garbage tip. No excuses someone needs a shake up quick smart.

Back home now and many miles away. We are looking better on the field and have a future. The game itself has changed for the worse i feel. And the club needs to at least look the part, regardless of its financial poistion.

Go blues. If Fish and Waite are fit this week we are a big show against the Dawks!

London calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared - and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look to us
Phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the reign of that truncheon thing

CHORUS
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
Cause London is burning and I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go at it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out - and draw another breath
London calling - and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking I saw you nodding out
London calling, see we ain't got no high
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

CHORUS x2
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning and I, I live by the river

Now get this
London calling, yes, I was there, too
An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London Calling

I never felt so much alike, like-a, like-a...

Welcome back and well done on getting your nephews memberships. Add 12 to the total.

Just a quick note, they'd run out of beanies at the membership tents Telstra Dome CFC Store on Saturday night.

London Blue its great to have someone from the outer call it wtih refreshing eyes.

You like many like the direction we're heading, and what you saw was half of the kids.

This weekend Kennedy will probably start, Setanta to take his place, Fish back, Bower hag grown....

You lucky bastard seeing the blue baggers live. I hope for yoursake you see many more on our way to the finals.

What is your opinion on the last 14 minutes? Shouls we have played man on man or was it a difficult task (lack of experience) keeping up with the reining premiers?

No .....and I still dont....its junk time cricket and no one who is serious about their cricket would rate that innings as anything more than park cricket......Clark should played after his South African performance and its the Aus cricket mafia looking after one of their favourite sons at the expense of a domestic battler who earned his baggy green..

Apologies for talking cricket on the footy main page....

Hey LB don't take it too much to heart by watching the Swannies. That sure is some ugly footy. No other club plays that way to the extent that they do. Still they won a premiership out of it. To this day I am still shaking my head wondering how. I am sure the rules committee are trying to remove this type of play from the game, but it ain't easy. The Blues though are looking promising and are on their way up.
