Troops, As you know the old bloke drops in from time to time and stuff me dead, I was just sitting out on my front deck with a coffee enjoying our glorious Brisbane weather and he suddenly appears out of nowhere. We got talking about Bloody Umpires, The State of the Game, Changes to the clubs Board and of course his favourite topic Pago Pago. He really has gone out on a limb by predicting that not only will Carlton have a rapid rise next season but says the signs are there to play a huge part in the season following. He did stop short of predicting our 17th, but said the Lord and Master was a lot smarter than he is given credit for. Something about cloning a Duck got me intrigued. ![]() The bearded one did actually give me some insight into the current list and was adamant about who would not be around to play a part in the expected resurgence. Some aren’t too much of a surprise but a few others I thought would still be in Blue when we next play finals. He also scoffed at suggestions that we have a good list of developing kids in the two’s. I pressed him on this as I’m very keen to know who is gunna make it and who is not. ![]() He wouldn’t divulge too many names of likely additions to the list, but said after this season and possibly next seasons end there would be plenty of changes. This is how he sees our list now and who will be around in 2008 and who won’t. ![]() Thanks for the memories Guys. Bye.... Luke Livingstone: Traded to Hawthorn for 3rd round pick. Justin Davies: Delisted, then Picked up by Collingwood in PSD.Barnaby French: Retired due to recurring back injury. Matthew Lappin: Retired due to foot injury. David Teague: Delisted Troy Longmuir: Delisted Callum Chambers: Delisted Adrian Deluca: Traded to Western Bulldogs for 3rd round pick. Chris Bryan: Delisted then picked by Melbourne in PSD.Ian Prendergast: Delisted Heath Scotland: Traded back to Collingwood for Pick 35. Jordan Bannister: Delisted Simon Wiggins: Delisted Anthony Raso: Delisted Trent Sporn: Traded to Essendon* for 4th round pick. Daniel Batson: Delisted Anthony Koutoufides: Retired. Manager wants 2 year deal @ $600K a season. Club plays hard ball. Our Future is.... Andrew Walker: Becomes elite Midfielder starting on half back. Compared to Andrew McLeod. Jordan Russell: Becomes speedy Wingman with occasional stints in back half. Needs more bulk. Marc Murphy: Bulks up too much, but then trims down to become the Star Rover of comp. Josh Kennedy: Just keeps growing. Over 100Kgs and almost 200 cm. Our Jono Brown. Kade Simpson: Running machine who is all guts. Leading possession getter by 2008. Lance Whitnall: Becomes Back Pocket specialist. One of 3 Vice Captains. Becomes super fit. Paul Bower: Biggest player in the comp since Sandilands. Great mark and rebound from defence. Jason Saddington: Injury free run. In and out of side, but mainly half back flank. Dylan McLaren: Smallest Ruck in comp, but clever bodywork. Great Clubman. Luke Blackwell: Still short but fairly solid. Best reader of play since Diesel. Bradley Fisher: Sticky fingers, but still unreliable kick. Plagued by injuries. Setanta OhAilpin: Really comes on. Very determined. Extremely fit and great mark. Jake Edwards: Slow to develop, but fairly quick off mark. Needs more time. Eddie Betts: Flash is the new Dominator. Rotates between pocket and midfield. Cory McGrath: Serviceable in mainly tagging roles. Pinch hit in back half. Adam Hartlett: Injury clouds still, but teases with odd great performance down back. Nick Stevens: New 3 year contract and then made Skipper in 2007. Leads by example. Brendan Fevola: Kicks over 80 in 2007, but second in Coleman. 2008 he finally cracks it. Jarrad Waite: Made one of 3 Vice Captains in 2007. Becomes Carltons first Franchise player. Bret Thornton: Benefits by move to Flank. Good vision. Compared to Michael Sexton. Ryan Houlihan: Finally makes his mark in midfield. Gets head over the pill now. Ryan Jackson: Comes on in leaps and bounds. Never stops yapping though. Adam Bentick: Ratten, Ashman, Gallagher reborn. Made one of 3 Vice Captains in 2008. Jessie D. Smith: On to main list for 2007. 2008 really shines in guts and up forward. Craig Flint: Upgraded during 2006 for 2 games. Best in two’s in 2007. Developing Defender. Andrew Carrazzo: Now settled in Back Pocket. Cameo roles in middle when lift needed. Aisake O’hAilpin: In only 3rd year, is the backup Ruckman. Huge leap. Very fit. Sam Sheldon: Picked up under father son rule. Project player for 2009 and beyond. Nostri put together a side for 2008, but warned that with AFL rule changes there might not be these positions by then. Wonder what he means? ![]() Backs: Andrew Carrazzo Adam Hartlett Lance Whitnall Half Backs: Bret Thornton Paul Bower Andrew Walker Centre: Kade Simpson Nick Stevens Jordan Russell Half Forwards: Brad Fisher Jarrad Waite Josh Kennedy Forwards: Setanta O’hAilpin Brendan Fevola Eddie Betts Followers: Dylan McLaren Adam Bentick Marc Murphy Interchange: Jason Saddington Luke Blackwell Ryan Houlihan Craig Flint Emergencies: Jesse D Smith Aisake O'hAilpin Sam Sheldon Has he been into the vino too much or is he a good judge? ![]() |

Without bias, I agree and I can see it; those who will be playing in our 17th Flag. I just finished a post on another thread, in support of Houlihan (not as a lover of Houlihan, but as a pragmatist). I love the effort and substance of your post. Apart from Sheldon, there will be a couple of others in addition to him too; naturally. A good blend of young and experienced. I'm glad that your informer has allowed for experience in the team: Whitnall, Stevens, Fevola, Saddington and Houlihan, and by 2008 Thornton, Carrazzo, Walker, Simpson, Fisher, Waite and Murphy will be wise heads with plenty of AFL experience. I'm hoping McLaren will be there as a ruckman, but I'm not so sure as the first ruckman, because but you never know with the O'hAlpins, or of something from left field as the bone is no longer pointing at us. Good one Brizzy. Keep it up. I look forward to your next vision. You're on a winner!! |

not a single player we've recycled, besides Stevens, will be anywhere near our next premiership side |

Neither will any player drafted in 2001. That year we had 6 picks of which 3 were in the first round (the other 3 have already gone). Don't worry that draft has more to do with the position we are in today than any other draft we have participated in. |

oops, I was talking about the 2000 draft, the Livo, Wiggo and Sporno draft along with Blake Cambo, Beaso and Okeffo. Synbad in all those other drafts you have quoted we never had 3 picks in the top 15. I agree we had not grasped the concept of nuturing kids in all those years but when we had the picks we blew it big time. |

Maybe Nostradamus should be on the Match Committee judging by the selected team against the Dorks. ![]() Love the Youth Policy that we are obviously persuing. ![]() Carlton v Hawthorn: B: Carrazzo Thornton Saddington HB: Simpson Whitnall Lappin C: Houlihan Bentick Scotland HF: Fisher Deluca Murphy F: Betts Koutoufides McLaren Foll: French Walker Stevens Inter: McGrath O'hAilpin Russell Teague Nostradamus’ Future Team: B: Carrazzo Hartlett Whitnall HB: Thornton Bower Walker C: Simpson Stevens Russell HF: Fisher Waite Kennedy F: O’hAilpin Fevola Betts Foll: McLaren Bentick Murphy Inter: Saddington Blackwell Houlihan Flint 15 out of 22 ain’t bad when you consider that 5 are ineligible to play this match. 3 are injured/underdone (Hartlett, Waite & Kennedy), Flint is still a Rookie and Fevola is suspended. Only Bower and Blackwell could have been picked, but whilst both are showing potential they need bodies first. I'll have to tell the old fart he's a good judge! ![]() |

there no way 2 rookie will be put on the list next year, either Asaike Ohalipin or Jesse Smith won't be with Carlton next year,i think Ohalipin would be kept because of his size and because his brother there, while Smith chance as a midfielder has gone with the inclusion of Murphy and soon Blackwell and Russell, while Jackson can get another year as a rookie, only way i see Jesse Smith getting included is if some midfielder is out for months and he is staring in the VFL,so he can get picked for AFL to show what he can do in the time left to play for the season. |

Id say that nostradamus here is very much on the money. An Essendon* mate is actually sort of following Carlton a bit at the moment, because he likes the fact that our team has genuine young potential stars in, as opposed to the Bombers, who he is very unhappy with, old players, youngsters that are more like our 200/2001 draft picks than he would like and some old top up players. He can see that our path is much better than the Bombers... |

I would reserve judgement on Blackwell..... I think he has a lot of hurdles to jump and Jesse Smith has slightly fewer. I half expect Smith to be a regular in the firsts by the end of the year. I'd say Aisake and Smith will be promoted, AND maybe Batson depending on his form..... realistically, they could delist another 10 players this year and we wouldn't feel it..... if rookies perform, they'll be in the firsts and on the list next year |

We could use another Bentick in the mix...... because of that, I reckon they'll be looking at promoting a Smith or Jackson (injuries pending) to add more punch around packs, or to give Bentick a breather..... especially if something happens to Kouta, like he gets an injury or they make him a permanent forward, or something |

I very doubt they will put 2 rookies on the list for spots, especially if it's a great draft, they never done it before i think, definetly no way 3. |
