To answer the question, my opinion has wavered over time. At times, I thought he was the right person and at others I had my doubts. As much as many of the players dislike him, I think he is the man for the position. I am still very much in favour of the Walls football school, that you coach to win games and not win friends. Not that we have done much winning, but more of the discipline that has been lacking for a long time at the club.

Our list has been poor for years and it was very disheartening to hear Parkin, saying again on Monday that they made very big mistakes in not drafting young kids and that it severly impacted the club. Not having the cattle and trying to re-build meant that we would not win many games. Especially in the first year of Pagan's tenure making similar mistakes by recruiting Mick Martin.

I think Pagan is not a one trick pony and his game plan being only Pagan's Paddock. He demonstrated he can coach out of the Kanga's environment and won a flag coaching the Essendon* Reserves. I think that he is not the best match day coach out there, but is trying to learn and keep up with the evolvement of the modern game.

I think within a couple of years we will truely see an evolved game plan with some of the younger players finally coming through. With discipline ripe in the group and finally some real commitment, I believe we will see the true work Pagan has achieved.

In regards to the future, I think this will be the last contract for Pagan. I think he and Sheedy will not be around for too much longer.

Apologies to the Mods but i put this in the wrong place please merge if you can.... Just wanting to get some views and opinions re Coach Pagan. If Pagan wasn't coaching Carlton and he wasn't at the Roos which club would he best be suited to coaching? Would he be coaching?? Also if Pagan doesn't see out his contract with Carlton or chooses not to extend his current contract, be it years down the track, do we think that he will indeed get another coaching contract elsewhere? I ask only because i'm curious if anyone here might think that Pagans coaching style might be out dated ? Now, don't read into this, me saying get rid of the coach, but at the same time when we talk about players not being around for future success, does Pagan also fit into this catergory. Sure he plays his part in developing our list and helps us rebuild, but does this guarantee being the coach of a successful high flying Carlton. Will he one day be pushed or will he walk . When this time comes

Be interesting to see if he has a lot more freedom now in the on-filed area where he may have had conflict before with Collo. My understading was that even though Pagan had some control there was also a lot of Input coming from Collo. With Collo gone and Smorgan endorsing strongly that Pagan has full control of onfiled decisions maybe he will be now free to implement things that may have clashed with Collo Anyway just a thought

He lost 10kg over summer I heard In answer to the question, if he can get us into the finals in the remainder of his contract I'll be happy. From there, who knows who will guide us, but he could walk away knowing he'd put the building blocks in place.
